Just learned of this today and it's actually quite impressive.

I like the idea of ai translation for things that will never get an official translation, but fear companies cutting corners by not hiring localizers and translators in favor of it

Machine translations get the job done if needed, but they are always noticeably lacking

Bad translation aside, weve had this in cameras for a loooooong time. Guess they just applied that to games.

I'm assuming that this Chinese app is constantly reading the entire screen on my handheld, so it's now disabled. *lol*

It was a bit of fun to use though, if only for a few minutes.

Nice, there are a lot of untranslated games I would like to use this with.

Isn't this kind of technology relatively old? Back in 2019 or so I saw some Twitch streamer using some real-time translation program on some Japanese game.

Yeah, I think retroarch added it in late 2019.

This is so damn wasteful.

Why wouldn't they just translate it ONCE and put the translation in a database somewhere?
