It's a shame they never made got to make a final Die Hard movie and the series ended on the absolute dumpster fire that is the fifth one. The fourth one wasn't that great either but it's at least better than A Good Day.

Its not even a matter of lying. Sometimes he just says it as an expression of frustrstion at the situation, without anyone in a position to hear it, like some sort of action movie hero delivering a Joss Whedon zinger.

IIRC there was talks of a 5th movie, with McTiernan possibly directing. The script was something about McClane returning to Nakatomi for an anniversary of what happened in the first movie and then everything goes to hell again. And the plan was for McClane to go it alone, no partners or friends helping.
