I watched some old videos of Obama today and was becoming nostalgic. It was the last feeling of normalcy.

Idunno, I feel like people would blame him for everything if that was the case.

If he has a 3rd term he'd probably disrespect the office with another tan suit. I'm still struggling in my day to day just remembering that scandal I won't be able to manage if he does it again.

I mean, according to Trump himself, right now IS his third term...

He's orders of magnitude better than anything going on right now and I'd trade for him in a heartbeat. But Biden was a significantly better President with worse resources.

Obama took office with a chance to created a new New Deal and in a country deeply angry after bankers crashed the economy. He had majorities we may never see again in Congress. And he functionally squandered it all and the state Democratic Parties collapsed under him.

The fact that we got Trump immediately after him is 75 percent racism, and a critical 25 percent of him wasting generational levels of anger and political engagement to empower consultants and try to do Clinton's third term

Obama didn't have majority in both house and senate. His second term was majority in house and senate and they stonewalled him.

This really. Obama is better than any Republican but he really squandered all the momentum and energy he built up.

I'd take Biden over him.

I'm not even sure he'd want it at this point. And Michelle seems totally done with it too.

Biden would squander the Obama momentum even harder if he was president in 2008 onwards, he was a moderating force in the Obama adminstration and helped negotiate a lot of the watered-down nerfs to legislation that happened in that era.

Biden is a product of the political environment. Trump's reign and the covid disaster stoked unprecedented levels of frustration among the left and allowed for sweeping reform. Biden just harnassed that. He'd have never made the push on his own, he keeps sync with the party. The 2020 Dem. party was simply to the left of the 2008 Dem. party.

Legendary_zell already said it well. But I gotta add:

Anyone with issues with the Supreme Court today has to think about Obama's role in that.

Obama's legacy is basically limited to optics. Everyone claps cuz black president. His policies were nowhere near enough.
