For the 8th generation, it must be either a game from the below consoles/mobile devices/virtual reality OR a game released from 2012 to 2020 (including those years). For the latter, the games do not have to be on consoles: PC, arcade, and other forms of gaming are acceptable.

This one is kinda hard. Now that I think about it, a lot of the most influential games of the past 2 decades were from 2009 - 2011. 2017 was a very strong year, but more due to its quantity of high tier games rather than having nukes the way 2011 does.

Pretty much the same although I don't think Bloodborne gets anywhere near challenging these 4. RDR2 & GTAV are nearest.

We're currently in the 9th generation and about to enter 10th generation. I'm not sure if Switch 2 is super late to 9th gen or super early to 10th gen, but it's looking more like the latter.

my gut says we are probably in a post gen phase soon as Microsoft leaves to focus on cloud and issuing game pass while Sony and Nintendo are on different hardware release cycles

only 2 i'd put as locks as they changed gaming a ton real quick. for the other 2 it's harder because at this point, Sony... kinda doesn't matter as much. Microsoft definitely doesn't. we're basically looking at what, 2011~-2017~? at this point i'd basically say we're in the main gen where both PC gaming and mobile gaming is kicking everyone's ass. for the latter one though... a lot of its games technically may have started previously but kicked into absolute mainstream madness here. to that end?

gotta have Angry Birds if it's from this era. dwarfs everything else. technically came out in 2009 on ios but android was 2010 and the real success goes from 2011 onwards. i'd put it over plants vs zombies for this category.

Overwatch meanwhile is another one of those "changed gaming forever" games. it wasn't the original shooter, we had TF2 and L4D, but there's a reason why even something like Marvel Rivals a decade later is competing with its sequel-that-isn't-a-sequel in this live service arena.

angry birds is 2009 and nobody gave a shit about the game itself past 2009

December 2009 is the ios release.
October 2010 is the android release.
it continued to dominate the charts through 2013. the original game, not one of the spinoffs or sequel. and quoting wiki:

According to Rovio, players logged more than 5 million hours of game time each day across all platforms, with the series having 200 million monthly active users, as of May 2012.

so no. it was very, very, very active as a game first and foremost. more so than pretty much anything else in the first half of this gen.
