I changed today's prompt to be Live-Action TV Villains because TV Villains was just way too broad.

Rules

1. You may vote up to 4 entries that fit the prompt.
2. No alts.
3. No deleting or editing posts; though, editing posts shortly after you post is fine.
4. If you change your vote, clearly indicate that you are changing a previous vote. Same for adding or subtracting picks.
5. In general, if there are two picks that can be considered the same product (i.e. Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Adventure 2 Battle), I will combine them.
6. If a vote is vague, I will pick the first available choice that best matches the vote (i.e. "Mario" for Wii Games becomes Super Mario Galaxy).
7. I will post the parameters of each Rushmore topic. Other than that, feel free to vote however you like and based on any criteria that best fits the "Mount Rushmore" of that topic.
8. If a vote doesn't fit the topic, it will count as a blank vote.
9. You may nominate as much as you want and have an unlimited amount of seconds for established nominations.
10. Every Sunday, I'll post the schedule for next week. I will pick based on the number of nominations. Any ties will be determined by RNG.

It was pretty fun tallying this. It was clear what the Rushmore would be, but not necessarily the order. I was surprised Persona got the top billing: I thought it would be the last since it was competing with two other popular RPGs. I never saw it coming.

Last 5 Rushmores

8th-Generation Video Games: Fortnite / Zelda: Breath of the Wild / Undertale / Grand Theft Auto V
Black Actors/Actresses: Denzel Washington / Sidney Poitier / Morgan Freeman / Samuel L. Jackson
Fictional Evil Corporations: Umbrella Corporation / Shinra Electric Power Company / Weyland-Yutani / LexCorp
"You Don't Skip The Intro" (Animated): The Simpsons / DuckTales / Pokemon: Indigo League / X-Men: The Animated Series
Video Games Ending in "5" / "V": The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim / Persona 5 / Grand Theft Auto V / Civilization V

This Week's Rushmores

Saturday: Video Game Sound Effects
Sunday: Classic Rock Bands

Next Themed Week: July 7 - July 13 (Songs of the Decade)

Today's Parameters

You must pick villains from live-action TV shows.

The definition of villain can be defined as "antagonist" (the one that serves as the primary or ancillary obstacle to the hero) or someone who does evil acts.

I reckon you could pick one of the (bad) Lannisters for this, but I'm not sure which one is best out of Cersei, Tywin or Joffrey. Joffrey I think became a kind of cultural landmark for hate, but Tywin and Cersei were in the show longer and were more important to the overall story

The Daleks (Doctor Who)
J.R. Ewing (Dallas)
BOB (Twin Peaks)
Gus Fring (Breaking Bad)

The Daleks are a group but singular and consistent enough (with no individuality) to count imo. As the longest running sci-fi villain (and probably the longest running villain) they should be on here.

Definitely Joffrey or Tywin

GoT show spoilers which is basically just ASoIaF spoilers at this point because I've come to accept the written series will never be concluded

Joffrey went out at the height of GoT's popularity in a memorable way and died hated and alone, like a true villain should.

Tywin went out after a peak moment in the show. Things went downhill after Tyrion's trial, but this was still when Game of Thrones was universally considered good if not great, and he went out like a bitch after looking like such a boss for so long so it was the ultimate ironic demise.

Cersei went out with a whimper instead of going out with a bang like she deserved after all her plotting and scheming blew up in her face (sometimes literally), spent over half of an already condensed final season staring menacingly out of a high tower window, and the show tried and failed to set her on a last-minute half-assed redemption arc (or maybe moreso her brother, but they roped her into his plot so it counts) only to die without any sort of comeuppance, and this was well after the show had already jumped the shark.

It's gotta be Joffrey or Tywin!

I dont think there needs to be a Game of Thrones villain on here. The good ones are just copy-pastes from the books and theres another good modern representative here in the form of Gus.

I think if you had to do one, you would do Ramsay because a good chunk of his arc is post-books and the show falls off further when he dies

  • The Cigarette-Smoking Man (The X-Files)
  • Cavil (Battlestar Galactica)
  • The Borg Queen (Star Trek: The Next Generation / Star Trek: Voyager / Star Trek: Picard)
Screw it, showing full support for sci-fi today. Also, Id have chosen a better Star Trek villain, like Gul Dukat, Weyoun, or Mirror Lorca, but Ill go with the most iconic one.

The Borg Queen is the way to go for this, Id think, unless one really despises her inclusion in the franchise. Which is fair, but she works well enough for me.

I hadnt realized characters dont count if their origin is through film. I mean, shes in like eight episodes of Voyager and another two in Picard (not counting the other Queen). In any case, Id personally prefer to cite individuals for this category rather than entire races.

The Dominion would be the cooler pick, anyway. lol

Q

I don't really count Q as a villain. He's barely like that except a handful of times. I mean, he shows up to call Janeway "Aunt Katherine" when his son is being unruly! But yeah, fair.

Still... not even a top five Trek antagonist imhhhho.

Season 3 is gold. Fanbaity, nostalgiaberry, gold. I don't really care that they went full hog on all that. They gave me something I'll treasure. Seven got ample development, the TNG cast truly came together, a Changeling villain, a big splashy final showdown, all good things.

The Master (Doctor Who)
Homelander (The Boys)
Crowley (Supernatural)
Cigarette Smoking Man (X-Files)

Honorable Mentions:

Negan (Walking Dead) - I feel like sadly the show went downhill around the time he arrived. But Jeffery Dean Morgan is great as Negan. He even got his own spinoff.

The Reverse Flash (The Flash) - Just a great villain.

Hannibal Lecter (Hannibal) - If Anthony Hopkins didn't exist, I'd probably put Hannibal on there. (I likes Mads Hannibal better, though)

Klaus Mikaelson (Vampire Diaries) also got his own show. If Vampire Diaries wasn't really obscure, I'd consider it.
