Making this topic as a prediction that it will follow the same formula as every other time I've seen a doctor for my blood pressure:

• They take my blood pressure.
• They see my reading, assume the cuff misread it somehow, and take it again.
• They say "Oh, okay, that's high, how long has it been that high?"
• I tell them that it's always been that high for as long as I can remember.
• They nod, repeat that it's high, and send me away without a prescription.

But who knows, maybe this one will be the doctor to break the pattern and actually fucking do something about it.

I had a simliar thing happen to me. My blood pressure was higher than it should be. Each time they were just like, "Be Healthier!" This went on for years.

My current PCP prescribed Atenolol and it helped my blood pressure. And it's cheap. Just ask them to prescribe Atenolol and see if they do it.

Back in March I had bad tendonitis in my shoulder and got denied care at an emergency clinic because my blood pressure was 233 over 145. I'm on 4 blood pressure medicines and it's still on the lower end of high. The appointment for a kidney specialist was for months out when it was scheduled.

If you have insurance, money and time you might want to get it taken care of.

They should've given you meds after the second time it read high.

Anyway, go exercise and eat healthier please. There's a reason its called the silent killer.

What meds did they give you

My wife was put on several until they found one that didn't make her feel like shit all the time (though all did work at getting her BP under control...)

They also want me to take a test for sleep apnea but now that Medicare is gonna be going away I don't know if I can follow through with that

"Just gonna slap the cuff on and... Oh dear, that's high, did you know?"

Damn

I came out of hospital last week after passing a kidney stone and had my BP taken every day. Even took blood from me and to top it off I had a catheter put in, thought I was going to have to go home with one but fortunately I was spared from having to have one put in again.

I don't mind the cuff to be honest.

i'm at the part myself where i need to go back into the sleep study again to test me on a cpap machine. got very mild sleep apnea.

on topic i have to take losartan myself for high blood pressure. primary isn't going to be happy with me since i stopped taking it about 4 months ago when it ran out. have to try to restart prescription.

I haven't seen a doctor in over 25 years. But every time I go to the dentist, they check my BP and it's always comfortably under 120/80. I've been exercising daily since Jan 1st 2019 so...

Any classic causes of high BP (overweight, diabetes, smoker, heavy drinker at any point in life) in your case? My old boss was thin and lived super healthy but due to sheer genetics he had to be on a pretty wild dose of BP meds

Lisinopril 10mg

It's a low dose, so you shouldn't worry too much, but watch your potassium intake. Lisinopril can cause high potassium, which can cause a whole host of other problems. Next time you see your doctor, I would discuss that with them, at least ask them to check it.

Been on Metoprolol now for a couple years, 50mg once a day. Not sure how much of an effect its really having but it does seem to help a bit and Ive never experienced any noticeable side effects.

don't say "for as long as I can remember"

that sounds like "this is normal for me", and they've got other shit to deal with.

Tell them it's never been that high and this is very alarming

A little overweight but not obese (I can still fit into Large size shirts, but tend to go for Extra Large for comfort), diabetes on my mom's side that I keep managing to not have, never smoked, never a drinker at all but I have started drinking one glass of red wine a night as of about a week ago because that's supposed to be good for your heart

High cholesterol can also cause high blood pressure as well..

Why 25 years? Do you have a family history of illnesses? You should get a physical and a blood draw to see your blood count, cholesterol, sugar levels..

Don't wait until you have something.

Word to the wise, as someone who has been on blood pressure meds since he was 7, take regular readings of your blood pressure if you get prescribed any, and make notes of any side effects you are suffering. I had to drop half a pill because I was passing out just opening up the Fridge.

And before someone comments, I'm on blood pressure meds because of a double collecting kidney.

Like from that physical effort or more of an orthostatic hypotension (light-headedness or blacking out on standing up) thing?
