You hear about marches here and there, but not much about the before and how long they've been going on for cause the oppressors don't want you to know they work. If you keep at it, oppressors have to cave. Eventually they'll be unpopular and will lose money, and they don't like that. they downplay it and want you to believe they're a waste of time and will usually also tell you a single vote doesn't matter.
