https://80.lv/articles/youtuber-challenged-his-69-year-old-dad-to-beat-dark-souls His dad really disliked video games beforehand, probably because he didn't really understand the appeal, but Youtuber Babe1Babe2 challenged him to beat Dark Souls. He took his son up on the offer and decided to finally play it. After roughly 9 months, he was able to fully beat Dark Souls and he really enjoyed it! It brought him a better understanding of video games, brought him closer to his son, and he's actually now in the process of trying to beat Elden Ring, all of his own choice! I love heartwarming stories like this. Here's a video the Youtuber made if you're curious, it's cut together like an interview piece with his dad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t76sOtfvgNk --- Game collection: http://www.backloggery.com/bakonbitz Gaming channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwVQm69J7bGScbv3_50C0dA ... Man I will never not be grateful that I grew up in a awesome video game loving family where every single one of us aside from 1 person (my mom. She tried to play super mario bros., fell down the first pit and never touched a console game ever again. She sticks to stuff like bejewled, farmville, solitaire etc.) was playing vidya' games. That story is pretty neat though, a parent actually attempting to understand their kid's hobby and bond with them. --- GTag:MadDogg730 PSN:lMadDogg NNID:xMadDoggx NS friend code:5313-0564-0819 Go buy cyber shadow like right now. ... I remember we would get the 4 player adaptor and mom and dad would race us in CTR. Good timesMy dad was the one that got all of us into gaming growing up. His favorite games where the scroll shooters (games like 1942, gradius, r-type etc), run n' guns like contra and metal slug, sports games and beat'em ups. Every single beat'em up you can think of in the 8, 16, and 32 bit days i more than likely beat it on co-op with my dad. I set up a old PS2 n' some emulators and this openbor program thing on his PC (fans make their own weird n' wacky beatem ups with the openbor stuff) and so even now he'll be chilling in his entertainment area playing some kind of beatem up (he bought his own copy of urban reign and mortal kombat shaolin monks years back) or metal slug. But yeah I was pretty fortunate and never had a lack of people to game with growing up. I used to do a 4 player run through tales of symphonia on the gamecube with my brother, sister, and one of my nephews or nieces. I do miss those days. --- GTag:MadDogg730 PSN:lMadDogg NNID:xMadDoggx NS friend code:5313-0564-0819 Go buy cyber shadow like right now. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Fable 2 got my dad into video games, before he thought they where all just like old arcade games. Short repetative actions for score points. Fable 2 made him invested and was easy for him to just pick up and play. He actual got all the achievments even the online ones by going to an old man forum and trading the dolls with other old timers. He now loves games he can get imersed in like subnautica. It's given us alot more to talk about on our weekly walks. I saw this video a few days ago. Pretty funny idea. BakonBitz posted... He buffed himself with a bunch of flasks, health, and used heavy armor while being overencumbered, so he had a fairly useless dodge roll.Poise is broken enough in DS1 that this is actually a completely legitimate strat. I did a run where I was over encumbered for as much of the game as possible (aka I rushed the stone armor right after the asylum) and basically face tanked everything except BoC and Gywndolin and it was one of the easiest runs I've ever done in those games. Barely anything has the DPS to outpace your healing capabilities even before you get the Rite of Kindling and it doesn't use stamina so you can just swing away then heal while your stamina recovers and repeat. --- Look, I can name a few instances in MY life where I tried to reach mutual understanding and i can TELL you, always faster and easier to just kill em.
