Sometimes I find songs or albums through various means and I listen to them spontaneously because I enjoy finding new music. Some other times I find a song that leads me to an album but I don't have time to listen to it at the moment so I throw it in a text file for safekeeping and forget about it for months until I come across it in my files again. I figured that I should start posting stuff somewhere so I have it more organized, and maybe people will actually listen to it too (lol as if). I'll mostly start backfilling this with music that I've listened to in the past, but eventually I'll reach the point where I can post anything new that I listen to.

PASSEPIED - More Humor
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_ljTdLOa2QlVvzxDD2sSFQbBKsvIqeXuMk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZNvCV5aikc

I came across this when looking up Natsuki Ogoda, the credited artist of Bun-San Body from the Katamari Damacy Rolling Live soundtrack. This album is really great all around, but I looove this song Graffiti in particular. I keep saying that I want to give more of their albums a try, but it usually ends up with me relistening to More Humor again (or just Graffiti a few times in a row).

Glam - More Than Ever (Club Mix)

Earlier this year when I first found it I was calling this my favorite song discovery of the year. Listened to it a lot for a few weeks.

I went through a phase when I was looking for more Spanish language music, and I ended up finding this in the related videos to a different album that I was listening to. Which is exactly what I wanted, related videos are one of the best ways to find music that you never would have known about otherwise (ironic considering how horrible YouTube related vids are for normal videos, but they're still good for music). Oh yeah, uh, explicit language warning if you speak Spanish I guess. I think I remember listening to a later album of theirs after this one too, but I don't have that link saved.

POiSON GiRL FRiEND - Melting Moment
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_ma_1DMNZLR_q2Ayl0t00k40BtFFwpYCPM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUqgYvaBlXc

A friend of mine has a small vinyl collection and occasionally posts pictures of it. One day I was looking up some album on Youtube, and they showed me some "suggested playlists" by random users. One of them by coincidence had one of these songs as the thumbnail, and I recognized the album cover from my friend, so I decided to pull up and listen to this whole album, kind of like a secondhand recommendation. And I'm glad I did, it fit my tastes pretty well. In terms of artists that I've listened to, my closest comparison would be Kahimi Karie, they both have that very light style of vocals (also being Japanese artists who primarily sing in English).

I think the adjective that I was looking for is "soft" vocals, that's more descriptive.

I didn't know what to expect from this, they caught my eye due to their strange name, but then I realized that I don't have any Finnish music in my repertoire so I decided to try it. It turned out to be some sort of Eurodance thing which was a pleasant surprise.

After I listened to Vinyyli I was getting all sorts of Finnish music in my related videos. I kinda semi-arbitrarily picked a song (the album cover helped sway me a little bit) and ended up on this album. This sure is an album from 1995 (complimentary).

I've listened to some of their stuff, it's fun! Melting Moment is a kinda neat EP, I listened to it a few months back after stumbling upon Hardly Ever Smile.

Maybe one of the less obscure artists in this topic? Haha... I knew 2 of their songs from 2 different video games, but it wasn't until this year that I actually looked into it and learned that both of those songs were from the same album. Then I realized that I should have listened to this 15+ years ago.

Singers Clio (who also sang More Than Ever that I posted above) and Kay Bianco collaborated on a handful of singles which were later compiled into this album. (I'd assume that some of the songs were made for this album but I know that at least 3 of them were released beforehand.)

Well, I found this song yesterday and it's already showing signs of becoming an obsession, so I may as well get it out of the way and post it now rather than later. This is a distinct song from Fun Fun's other song "Give Me Your Love" which came out a few years earlier.

Sabrina - Vola
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rY0Ywgs7p4o

I have listened to 3 full Sabrina albums plus a couple of other loose songs, and concluded that she only has 2 songs that I really care about. It's not that it's bad music, it's mostly typical 80s/90s pop (which is positive), just maybe there's not that much to set it apart from her contemporaries. BUT. This song right here is perhaps the most addictive song that I've ever heard. Every time I listen to it I have to listen to it multiple times. It goes beyond simply "this is a good song and I want to listen to it because it's good". I like the actual sound of it and having that sound in my ears at all times. The melody, the instruments, the catchiness. Back when Youtube suggestions used to work, this would get stuck in my recommendations due to positive reinforcement; I'd finish watching some other video and Youtube would be like "Babe, it's been 2 hours, time to listen to Vola again" "Yes honey." One time on my drive home from work instead of listening to the radio I listened to this song on loop 3 times. If there was any sort of extended version I'd probably listen to that even more so I wouldn't have to click replay as often. It's been nearly three years since I found this song and I don't think that I've found any other song that affects me in the way that this does.

Aka "the album that Volver a Comenzar from LittleBigPlanet is from". Solid all around and if you like this song then you'll like all the songs here. Not to downplay the rest of them but I still think that this is the #1 song even after listening to the full album. Incredible 10/10 song.

Madonna - Madonna
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlq7Qg7QtlOE1OTof5HUinpati8Vy6HWp
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVi3gPYFKyo

This is one of my overall favorite albums (incidentally, that makes it the single most mainstream thing that I listen to). I am of course sharing it today because it is the 42nd anniversary of the album's release. When we were kids, "music from 42 years ago" was like Elvis Presley, or a group of guys singing a cappella in some black and white recordings... Now this is what 4 decades of "old music" sounds like ~_~ Anyway, this album is basically perfect. There are multiple releases of it with different variations, but this is the version that I'm accustomed to, with shorter Holiday, longer Everybody, and no bonus songs.

Curve - Cuckoo
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLSOjkz6nG1QdoDewfAsUxElxLT7KwkhZ2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XmePLpL8aI

This has been one of my recurring albums since like 2014 or 15. Curve has a pretty consistent sound but something about this album is just ever so slightly darker or edgier than their other ones, which is why it stood out among the rest of them and become my favorite one. Unreadable Communication has this really unique part halfway through (just listen, you can't miss it) which elevated it to my #1 pick on this album, among several good songs. It's actually rare for me to name a slow song as my favorite when there are faster alternatives, but that part makes it too interesting to ignore.

I found this album in the related videos when I was grabbing the links for Cuca earlier in this topic. I listened to it because wait, this is the same thing I typed in my Cuca post. But yeah, music you've never heard of is the best way to discover more music you've never heard of. The most striking about this album is how, like, 75% of it sounds like this song, but at some point they decided to add a heavier guitar, so a few of the later songs sound more like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DijDGiIdQPw (Also, the beginning of El Fantasma sounds like Now or Never from Splatoon)

Kahimi Karie - Tilt
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCOKr0IapFI

This album used to be on Youtube but the last upload got removed a year or two ago. I just did a search on a whim today and found that somebody had reuploaded it (it's not on the official Kahimi Karie channel for some reason, where several of her other albums are). So I got to relisten to it for the first time in a while.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jRdT_no6Q4

Tilt may have been one of the earlier Kahimi Karie albums that I heard, but when I was going through them and listening to them one by one, this was the one that really jumped out at me the most. It makes sense why, I was obviously influenced by her song in We Love Katamari, and this album has a bunch songs that are similar to that one in style and mood. I was also lucky enough to get this album nominated for Rank the Tracks last year so I was able to share it with people. Last week I had to drive somewhere longer than my usual commute so I listened to this in the car.

Fun Fun - No More Tears
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZJ01YdPPE4

This song had a delayed effect on me. I found it a month ago, and I checked it out of curiosity of how this group from the 1980s inexplicably released a song in 2022 (also the name of the song). It was just a one and done listen at the time. But I revisited it a few weeks later and that time it hooked me a lot more, and I ended up listening it it like once a day for over a week. I know this is a backwards and ironic thing to say, but this song kind of strikes me as a modern era Freezepop song.

I had heard some of their singles before (thanks Board Game Online), but this weekend I looked them up and learned that they were a much bigger group than I realized (both in popularity and amount of songs). Only 3 of their albums were posted on their official channel for some reason (I'm sure the rest are uploaded unofficially) so I decided to start with this one. Their newest album literally released a month ago so I'll try that one next.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbAD3dYOMtSIAw8sbT5lV87P_xX97Nzzj

I listened to Fey's album Tierna La Noche (second album) like ~2 years ago and she's been on my "I should listen to more from this artist" list ever since. This one (first album) was a serviceable listen but lacked any real stand-out, memorable songs for me. I can easily understand why a lot of her biggest songs came from her second album now.
