You must pick Fire Emblem classes.

Classes are split by their name. You may choose classes based on their tier-1 (base), tier-2 (promoted), tier-0 (trainee), or tier-3 version.

Lord classes are OK, but are split by game.

DLC classes are fine.

Enemy classes are fine.

For Japanese-only game, use any names on the wiki or describe an example unit.

If there's a bit of confusion on a particular class that shares names but feel like different class experiences, include the game (i.e. FE7 Sage vs. FE9 Sage).

obvious elaboration: I am rolling in the promoted classes with these (ie: Cav with Paladin)

in truth, I feel other than Lord, the only lock is Cavalier. there's a ton of them, they are very useful to pretty much any type of FE player, and there's two archetypes dedicated to them (Jagen and Christmas Cavs) - and Jagen is near-indisputably the most famous FE archetype, the latter of which also gives them at least some story importance most of the time

I feel you can make strong cases for nearly all the classes the first appeared in the first couple games, and for Myrmidon. ultimately I went with Peg Knight for somewhat similar reasons to Cavs (many games give you at least three of them, they're well known for being hard to train but immensely rewarding, and lots of popular and occasionally very important characters are them)

I'll go with Mage since I feel having a magical class here is somewhat important and they teach important gameplay lessons like cavs and pegs do. it is also another class that feels like it is destined to produce ridiculously popular characters, especially in the realm of ones who have little plot importance, maybe comparable only to Myrmidons in thet field.

Kinda hard to argue against these four when you have the main character, the Jaegen, their explanation for flying units, and most people's first Lord being a Myrmidon (Lyn)

I was kinda tempted to put Wyvern Knight instead of Pegasus Knight, idk. I feel like Pegasus Knights were more prominent in earlier games, but recent games have been all about Wyverns.

had to pick thief for the 4th because you always run one, in every game. Myrmidon is probably 5th because dodging is too good but you still need to open locked doors, still need treasure chests, and for that will always run one. eventual Assassin/Rogue promotion just helps cement that. they also tend to be pretty memorable and an early character for the team.
