The horny rule.
I get not posting lewd shit, but not being allowed to talk about it in a mature manner is ridiculous. And even then, it's never consistent.

There's way too much horny posting here sometimes.

personally i hate the new quote system, though that's more of a site wide thing. no longer can we chain pointless arguments together with a quote in quote.

Less CE and more GFAQs in general.
The no horny rule is just a _little_ too strict, just a tad.

Drawing the line at blatant objectification is reasonable, but pretending sex doesn't exist on a board mostly occupied by adults is a bit silly.

"No politics outside of CE" probably could be toned down as well. I understand not wanting to reopen 261, but the reality is politics affects everyone. Especially right now.

The fact that it's closed off from the masses. The karma restriction was the best way to limit access, imo. Any trolls that waited the 50 days to get back in just got banned pretty fast again. I would have been fine with a higher karma count to get in too.

Inconsistent rules

People have their cliques already so lurkers and less active users never really get included in conversations.

It's the way of every digital space really and I've felt the same "annoyment" in games like WoW which includes things like, A teams and B teams for raids, parsing BS, and real life friends / long time digital friends sticking together (understandable) and manipulating entire guilds / raids to get loot (bullshit).

Maybe a silly example but its the closest thing I can think of in terms of what I try to mean.

They banned all the characters. And the good users left are being restrained under penalty of banishment.

Topics purge too quickly. When 261 was still active, I could go back 10 years in the archives and read what was on peoples minds back then. On CE Im lucky to track a topic for 10 days.

Seeing the same arguments over and over and over again. BotW is overrated, FF6 has too many party members, literally any mention of the acronym "TLJ," the list goes on. Wouldn't be so bad if the board archived and you could just copypasta whatever you said the last time any given dead horse came around.

At least Fallout 3 vs. New Vegas and Aeris vs. Aerith have pretty much died out at this point.

The fact that neither the Politics or Sexuality boards exist anymore, so CE is a watered down outlet for both. Very watered down.

New users can't come here anymore. The only people that can were the ones that visited the site during a certain window of time last year. Now if your account hits purg then you permanently lose CE access, unless you appeal to dtoast and he and the other mods vote to let you back in.

It isn't exactly closed off from 'masses' at this point, but it was made a private board, no one who joins after that date can see it (unless they become a mod, presumably, like with LUE) and if you get suspended you lose access unless you can convince DToast to let you back in.

A lot of people here have a more limited capacity for respect and empathy than they realize.

Because it's been cemented over and left to die, this board is stuck with its population of mostly burnt out millenials and Gen Xers.

The only reason I'm here is because it was forced to become the defacto Politics board

In general the amount of people with a stick up their ass or who only post to pick a fight with the premise of a topic rather than engage with it

Site's like 30 years old and still the absolute most basic trolling will have people gangstalking across topics you for weeks trying to enact their vengeance. It takes no effort at all. At all. ESL teenagers on chan sites can spot and disengage a troll better than 45 year olds on here.

Like there's so many people on here who it just takes so little to wind them up, and once you wind them up there's no going back. Have to wonder if it's something medical/psychiatric at that point.

Its not that it annoys me but I truly dont understand gimmicks. Like sure I can understand when you were a teenager 20 years ago you might have thought it was funny. It wasnt, but I can understand you thought it was. But now some of these people are mid 30s and even 40s and I truly cant comprehend why they stick to gimmicks and dont talk and interact like a regular person. Some of them never drop the veil, its always the gimmick and I dont understand what they get out of it. Especially on a site that truly is dying and pretty much never breaks 1,000 active users anymore.

Im not upset. I just dont get it. Whimsy and silliness is fine. I just ignore it though. Not actual ignore function, I just mentally skip over it and dont engage.

Like, once I made a poll where the topic title was "cheese, bacon or chocolate?" and the actual prompt was which is most overrated. And most of CE lost their freaking minds because they voted for their favorite of the three without reading.
