The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics, most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Sciel's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into her characterizationher personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funnythey say something deep about life. As a consequence, people who dislike Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 truly are idiots; of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humor in Sciel's existential catchphrase, which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now, just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Sandfall Interactive's genius unfolds itself on their monitors or television screens. The devs have talked about how much they love all the influences to the game, final fantasy, persona, etc. And it's that appreciation and amalgamation of great design choices that drives the love for the game even more. Literally every single fucking jrpg style game. It can be a indie rpg like sea of stars, chained echoes or cosmic star heroine. As you said every single time a new persona drops, a new yakuza like a dragon, SMT, dragon quest, whatever. A lot of this stuff like persona 3 reload and like a dragon infinite wealth was just modest successes instead of being huge block-busters type sales. (Since FF7 Rebirth's non-existent sales numbers is always used as "proof" that the game is a super duper dumb-truck failure. Square said "it didn't do as high as we hoped"........womg fawkin' bankrupted square). Its some dumb-ass action-based vs turn-based war thing that is never-ending because some people can't fucking move on that one older classic jrpg series wants to try something new. I'm sick of it god dammit. I swear I really like what expedition 33 does and I am glad I managed to cop my nice lumier edition for this really good indie jrpg style game, but people on the internet get so annoying it almost makes you want to start hating something just via association, lmao. If I have to see yet another "duuurrrr, lookit my BIG BRAIN take. This indie game that happened to use a turn-based timing battle system sold really well. See square-enix, SEE?!?!?!?!?!? You should do insert what this rpg does here For your game!!!"
