I'd be very confused, because I don't eat mashed potatoes, and I generally don't cook them for other people. Like, if I was having ham or turkey or something with friends and/or family, I would explicitly tell them if they want sides they can bring/make them themselves. Which would include potatoes. --- "Wall of Text'D!" --- oldskoolplayr76 "POwned again." --- blight family ... Copied to Clipboard!

adjl posted... You just serve them a turkey and nothing else? I generally don't serve anyone anything. I don't celebrate holidays and I don't cook for other people. I get free turkey/ham from the grocery store every year for Easter/Christmas, and I usually give it to one of my friends, who cooks it and then we eat it together. Basically, he does the work and gets a free meal out of it (well, I say he does the work, he makes his wife do it). The way we handle sides is that I usually bring along whatever I want to have and then whip it up myself once I get to his house, and he makes whatever he wants for sides. There's some overlap (I'll eat some of the corn he made, he'll eat some of the stuffing I made using my family's secret stuffing recipe, etc), but for the most part, if you want something specific, you're making it yourself. So I'm never making mashed potatoes. Years ago, when my mom was still alive and my niece and nephew were younger, we'd occasionally have Thanksgiving together (sometimes), but we'd more or less do things the same way. If you wanted mashed potatoes as a side, you were making them yourself (my sister used to cook them at home and brought them over in a dish for her and my mom, because they were mainly the only ones eating them). My mom made Brussels sprouts a few times (because only she and my niece liked them). Usually if I'm having a larger meal with multiple sides I'll go with either corn or rice as my starch. Potatoes aren't my thing. --- "Wall of Text'D!" --- oldskoolplayr76 "POwned again." --- blight family ... Copied to Clipboard!

Revelation34 posted... So two different cards would probably work. In theory, two different people in the same house with different card accounts could both do it (like, say, when I was in college and my father and I both had separate cards but the same mailing address). Hard to say for sure, because the cards are linked to a specific address, so they might be able to figure out on their end that you're both technically part of the same family if they know you're living in the same house (especially if you have the same last name). Though the ad does say "per family" and not "per household" (like some promotions would), so it's hard to say. It would probably be a bit of a grey area, but they'd have to really be anal about it. Honestly, I doubt they care enough. Most people aren't going to engage in an elaborate scam to spend thousands of dollars on groceries to get a hundred dollars or so worth of free meals twice a year. Revelation34 posted... That's a lot of money in just one month though. Ehh. It's usually more like six weeks rather than just one month, and everything costs so much these days it shouldn't be hard at all to spend $70-$100 or more per week. Especially if you're shopping for more than one person (ie, if you've got a family). I don't think I've ever come close to not spending the full amount. And I'm usually only shopping for two people. If I had kids I'd be spending even more. On top of which, if you're planning an actual big Easter/Thanksgiving meal you're probably going to be spending extra money on sides, dessert, and other meal prep (spices, butter, etc). So that'll be a big bump in spending towards the end. And if you're still a little short of the goal, you could always buy stuff like toilet paper, napkins, paper towels, etc that you'll eventually use anyway but you don't need to worry about going bad/expiring, even if you don't currently need it. So you just have a little extra on hand for a little longer, but don't have to buy it later so it balances out. --- "Wall of Text'D!" --- oldskoolplayr76 "POwned again." --- blight family ...
