Most of my favorite movies are classic 80's comedies or like westerns from the 60's through the 90's. Most tv shows I think of are from the 60's through the 80's. I was born in the 70's and grew up in the 80's/early 90's and went into the U.S. Navy and came home in 1999. I started the job I'm at right now June 28th 1999. I'm on year 27 now and basically from that point on everything kind of feels like the same block of time and nothing really differentiates itself except stuff like 9/11 or Covid. It felt like every single cartoon show and comic book made around the early to mid 2000s had a goth character in it, and even with live action they were popping up more in shows like NCIS. When it comes to video games they were showing up a lot there too since the early to mid 2000s was the dark n' edgy popularity period. When jak 2 had it's makeover, brutal legend, the darker n' edgier prince of persia and you had games like bloodrayne popping up etc. they all had their mandatory goth girl somewhere or another. (Or they are the main character, lol). Since someone posted the teen titans 2000s show star fire I instantly thought about that show's version of raven (which if I'm not mistaken is still the most popular raven out of all of the comics and previous show appearances).
