Why are there so many timelines? Like I get that the Chibi Gundam and the Gunplay stuff are their own timelines. But why does the main action stuff have so many? I mean, Gundam started with one timeline, the Universal Century. But they like the freedom to explore Gundam without the restrictions inherent to that timeline (especially when working with a different "vision" for Gundam), so there's a lot of alternate timelines that take it a different way. I think they are all pretty great, for the most part. I didn't like G-Gundam though. The "universal timeline" is the original gundam's universe, and so if a gundam anime/manga/movie/OVA/whatever else is made in this universe then it would be known right from the beginning. Gundam seed, gundam 00, gundam wing and G gundam are their own separate universes, and if they have a sequel movie or show (like gundam seed has a sequel show specifically for its setting called gundam seed destiny. Think of this as something like final fantasy 10 and final fantasy 10-2.
