It's like rainbow slime and play doh. Aside from gak and mad balls, I never liked gross out toys. But it's whatever. Fads come and go in toys like they do in anything else.

As an 80s/90s kid, some of the biggest trends I remember were cartoon toys, scented toys, gross out, dinosaurs, teddy ruxpin, nickelodeon toys, beanie babies, cabbage patch, model horses, furbies and legos.

I'm sure you had your toy trends too op.

Summary:

Someone put a Labubu doll on Karl Marx' grave and the picture went viral; so the Labubu team decided to capitalized on it to buff their sales

Believe it or not I had Dragon Ball Z toys back in the day. I forgot the exact ones I had but I'm pretty sure I had pretty much every character - and that includes different versions of the same character

You can't really call it a trend tho because the trend was DBZ and not the toys themselves, and I still like DBZ to this day

It was a bunch of Unicorn dolls that would shit slime. I think they were Unicorn Poopises. I don't get the obsession with turds and slime. I don't like slime due to the textures.

Yeah I can't get over the wastefulness of these mass consumerist products. At least the Stanley Cups get people to drink water or whatever.

There's probably nothing like this that can piss me off as much as Funko Pops though. I don't even know if people like these things, they seem to mostly just exist off their ubiquity and wide array of properties. I'm not sure what purpose they serve other than maybe an uninventive gift for someone since everyone has some pop culture thing they enjoy. Now they're all over single story that is remotely pop culture-adjacent (toys, movies, comics, electronics, video games, etc.)

I dunno... but for some reason I was at the Robo machine during a restock ._.

Lego have always been popular. They're not a trend.

I'm not an expert on the demographics of all these, but I think the only one that's comparable really is Beanie Babies, in that it's attracting a lot of adults who oughta know better about how nakedly consumerist it is.

Legos attract adults too, but they're evergreen, and they're also a much higher class of toy that prods your creativity and can occasionally be used to make something practical with.

I still find farts funny at my age. It's excrement and piss is where I draw the line. I had those dinosaur dig kits were you could chisel away at a block and find random bones.

I have an older friend who loved little Rubber Monsters from the 90s.

M&Ms ain't vibrant and would have a vomit texture if all mixed. I have a soft spot for pastle/tie dye colouring on plushies.
