Recently they've attacked "DEI", "CRT", "BLM", their rallying cry was "FJB" (or "LGB") in the last election.

Of course there are nonexamples of this like attacking the nebulous "woke" or "AA" (Affirmative Action). I wonder if this is related to their hatred of 3-Letter Government entities like the FBI or IRS?

Or are fascists just scared of big letters?

It makes them feel like they're in some super cool secret club that talks in code. They get to say disgustingly bigoted shit while convincing themselves that only other people "in the know" actually understand what they're saying, and then use perceived plausible deniability to play the victim when other people call out the obvious dogwhistles.

Honestly I think my favorite was the clown thing. Like dang, these dudes are so far gone that they're pretending to be clowns cause they think everyone else is so stupid that they're gonna fall for it because they think they're brilliant. But at the end of the day they're still acting like clowns and acting like everyone else is the idiot.

But the belief is "we can't talk bad about Joe's Biden....or else!" So they invent lame codewords to act like they're in club breaking the rules in secret.

Make America Great Again almost didn't take off with the righties because it's too long of a slogan for them to remember if they couldn't shorten it to MAGA.

Did they come up with those abbreviations? Seems like a coincidence honestly.

CRT is always the one that throws me off, because I always think of the type of TV first.

They have difficulty remembering longer words. Acronym slogans are easier to focus on than learning what's really going on around them.

Three letter things have been attacked by Republicans ever since the original new deal where Franklin D Roosevelt created a bunch of new three-letter social programs that helped lift this country out of depression. It's also why we call him FDR.

Rule of three

Simple minded people need simple terms.

They like to keep things short and punchy in general. Conservatism typically doesn't like nuance. They generally like to frame things in simple binary terms. It also helps in the current low attention span media environment for messages to be short and easy to remember.

"Woke" is simply the distillation of "political correctness" (right-wing buzz-phrase bogeyman of yester-decade) into a 4-letter word.

3 letter names are simple which helps given the intelligence of the average Republican, but it's also literal cult tactics. By coming up with your own coded speech, you create an in group with specific knowledge that by its nature is harder to discuss with people outside the group, closing them off from conflicting views. When others literally struggle to understand what you're saying, how can they give any criticism?

Also has the side benefit of being so abstract that you can heavily influence their views by the time they comprehend what they're supporting. No one outside of actual bigots oppose things like equality, but dress it up with scary buzzwords and frame it as taking from "your" group and suddenly a lot of people actively support inequality.
