Theres a maximum tolerance of radiation to be around, which this was 10x the allowed amount.

Gullible people will tell you nuclear power plant operations are completely safe and never leak anymore yet we have radioactive wasps flying around.

I read the article and several others on it before commenting. How else would I have known the 10x figure? You mustve not read the article.

They theorize the leak is happening from legacy contamination from a site that is still active today producing material for nuclear power plants. Thats why I included the word operations. Leaks happen in supply chains too.

The environmental organizations are right to be mad and skeptical over this.

Ive lived in several places where you cant use the well water because of radioactive contamination from nuclear supply chains.

Solar is decentralized with redundancy so its the only power source that isnt a sitting duck.

Time and cost makes scalability one of nuclears many big problems.

Modern solar grids have redundancies in energy storage as well. Because the price of storage is also coming down along with panel redundancies that already scale above energy consumption.

I'd add that in terms of "watts per square meter of land" used, Nuclear beats Solar by a wide margin. That said, if you want to use desert lands that are agriculturally useless for solar farms, go for it.

Also, is the wind gen thing just including humans falling or is it including birds flying through them as well?

This metric loses meaning when you can staple panels to land already in use.

As in bringing much needed shade to every parking lot. Blanket every roof. Now each building in generating more energy than it needs to send back to the grid towards other projects or storage. Each building now has its own backup.

Conversely, nuclear requires a lot of dedicated land that it will potentially pollute for longer than the universe has existed.
