What do you thin will happen in the 2026 midterms? Can the Democrats at least retake the House?

It'll be Russia style elections.

Rigged and there will be armed forces ready to shoot you if you vote for the "wrong" person.

It's why I see midterms as a lost cause.

I'll have to wait and see next year, how far the Trump Administration is going to go to make it harder to vote. And what tactics they're going to use to rig and supress the vote, before I can make any guess on how it's going to go.

The elections will be fine. Ice agents will be at polling places in blue cities to maintain election integrity:

democrat cities get a drop box the size of shoebox that's taped to the back of a moving vehicle for them to put their vote in. "journalists" are forced to say that democrats just need to be willing to endure hardships to vote, or that it was just in and out to vote in the town of 50 people so it's not a problem at all for anyone else

In any normal year democrats probably get big wins

No it won't. States run elections. Midterms are NOT a lost cause.

We're talking about an administration who isn't afraid to send the national guard against states consent. Moment Trump smells anything resembling Democrats winning, he'll send in the national guard to stop it.

I'd respect the commitment to the bit if it just wasn't so terrible.

They announce two different dates for voting. One is the real one, one is not. They strategically tell the people they do or don't like which day is the day.

There aren't going to be any midterms. There aren't going to be any more elections in America for many years.

There's a reason why Trump is ordering red states to crank up gerrymandering to the max in mid-decade redistricting.

Republicans will still control everything and in the off chance they don't, Trump will just ignore congress

For 2028 Trump wins with 99.8% of the vote. Dem candidate David Dennison who has never actually been seen in public but appears in videos that look slightly off gets .01% of the vote and ties with Jill Stein for the other .01%.

Dems retake the House, GOP retains the Senate.

Given that the real economic pain has yet to come, I'm fully expecting a blue tsunami.

Enough that calling them "elections" would be a lie.

I dunno, myself. If Vance and/or his masters makes a move to invoke the 25th Amendment early enough, I can see elections being suppressed slightly more subtly than they would be under Trump. But, if Trump is still in charge and surrounded by sycophants, they may not be able to do as much because of the total chaos in handling somebody with both his dementia and his mouth.

Reliance on fear and military crackdowns is the rule you see from a despot in a position of weakness.

I think the economy and quality of life get so fucked up even with a ton of voter suppression and flat out illegal shit the gop still gets blown out.

I know its easy to just be like oh yeah his supporters will eat any shit sandwich they get served but the other 20% of swing voters wont once they cant get food from the shelves or it costs half a paycheck to go to the store every week.
