I do not like pretty much any of Snyder's movies

But the Snyder Cut kinda rocked and it's an easy 8/10 comic book movie

I'm very happy that the DCEU was scrapped and Gunn is going in a new direction, but I think it's a shame that we didn't get to see the rest of this story play out.

It's good. Too long, but it was during the pandemic and had nothing to do anyway

i didnt know there was a color version. watched it a movie night with friends. begged for release

Shockingly blown away by it. It was like the one time Snyder writing something was... good? I mean, execution wasn't perfect, but it all came together in a nice pleasing way.

Really hard to separate the experience from the abomination that released first, though.

What's crazy is that many of the jokes that people assumed Whedon added were actually Snyder.

the release version was in full colour, 4K, and had chapter titles so you could watch it like a TV show if you wanted.

i don't know why Snyder cropped it and released it in black and white afterwards

I actually wish that Warner could have just let Snyder go hogwild with his plan. The Director's Cut of BvS is also a lot better than the theatrical. It makes sense.

Terrible not only in substance but also in the fact that they gave that dude tens of millions more for reshoots and marketing for a completely fucked universe that had long squandered all its good will.

Its literally a 4:3 aspect ration with 2 giant fucking black bars in the side of the screen.

It's not even widescreen, in this fucking age of technology. That alone is unforgivable. Its literally unwatchable

I did have a lot more respect for Snyder creatively when it clicked that the intention was never to follow the MCU but to basically make a quintology (MoS, BvS, JL, JL2, JL3) of films telling an Elseworlds-style JLA story with various spin-offs

the fact that they cut the speed force scene in favour of the Flash pushing a car is just a fucking wild choice

Is this like a directors cut for Batman v Superman or something? I watched the theatrical release of that and it was utter shit, so Id have to assume the directors cut couldnt be worse

like making the Flash and Cyborg basically the main characters of Justice League works extremely well, and they were barely in the theatrical cut lol

Meh. There was a stat floating around that only a third of people who started it finished it, and I totally get it. Very dull.

It's not even fair to compare it to the theatrical version, because Snyder would have had to cut at least 90 minutes to get it into cinemas. We have no idea what that would have looked like.

I like to think that it would have been possible to make a great 3 hour version that could have been pushed to cinemas

cutting back on the slow-mo scenes could shave off a cool 30 mins (not even joking) then you can probably just axe the Knightmare sequence near the end for another 20 mins.

3 hours and a few minutes ain't too bad a runtime

It still stunk.

I'd be surprised if his version wasn't better than what we got, but that's a low bar to clear. I think "great" is probably an exaggeration.

My point is we will never know what Synder's actual cut would have looked like, had he delivered in 2017. I don't think it would be what he delivered in 2021. He was given several extra years, 10s of millions of extra dollars, and the reaction to the theatrical cut to work off of, and the result was still pretty meh.
