Part of my getting a work visa in the UK over a decade ago involved fingerprinting so considering how much info the UK shares with the USA? I would imagine my fingerprints may very well be in the hands of the US government and probably with any of the Five Eyes countries.

I'm sure law enforcement would share that info if requested. Maybe prints of the world go in the same database? idk

While I doubt there's a world wide shared database? I would not be the least bit surprised if the Five Eyes have one.

For anybody who happens to not know, Five Eyes countries are: Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, and the United States.

I never gave them to the police department directly, but one of the job requirements for a substitute teacher certification in my state requires fingerprinting and it's the only time I've ever had to do so. It probably wouldn't be too difficult for someone to pull them, even if they were taken the better part of two decades ago.

I remember when they sent my wife a sign-up page for some identity theft protection service. All the account recovery questions were based on basic personal history that was in the breached files and then the registration didn't even work

Mine were done back when I was about 8 or 9 (1988 or 1989) for, what I was told, in case I got kidnapped. It was some program that a lot of kids were doing, being recorded on video, and a police officer would ask questions that would help identify each kid specifically, such as favorite foods, favorite activities, etc. Looking back on it, it still doesn't seem like it was used for nefarious purposes. Just parents having video of their child in a time where video cameras were a luxury.

I remember that, but I think we were even younger. Everyone got lined up in the auditorium and I had no idea what they were doing. It didn't hit me until years later that they were getting our fingerprints since at the time I knew nothing about that.

I don't know if they could use a child's prints to mach an adult's or not.

Possibly. They took them once for the purpose of excluding them (my car got broken into, they were checking it for prints), officially the samples were to be destroyed afterwards but obviously who knows if that actually happens or not. I'm not in the US so it's possible they're telling the truth, but yeah.

I was taken to the police station on a bench warrant - I didn't even know I was wanted, a local renter took me to court for 'damages' but I never even got notified... I'm pretty sure the arresting officer was just being a dick, because the dudes at the station just gave me a new court appearance and turned me loose. So yeah I have a fingerprint and mugshot because of some goofball shit

I'm not sure I did to be honest. Its 30y ago. I remember some part of entrance but mostly talking to the recruiter, physical exam. I really shouldnt have passed that exam. Legs far back look straight but closer inspection they are a bit pointed outward. I've had hip and back problems for 2 decades. I was young wasnt a issue when I was 18.

I can't specifically remember actually doing my fingerprints when that happened but I probably did it. I bet a lot of people are on file from doing that as kids. Cops shouldn't be allowed to do that. But they do. Under guise of being officer friendly, they illegally obtain tons of kids fingerprints for possible use against them decades later

Lmao, that's awful. Our identity theft protection at least worked. Sorry your wife got completely screwed with that.
