Melee at the time was undoubtedly my favorite game of all time for me and many others, but my god, the hype for that was insane

Having a shitty day at school to come home to new Brawl info turned the whole day around for me.

That was one of the best marketing campaigns ever. It was so exciting to wake up every morning and go straight to that website to see what was revealed.

Brawl was the first time I recall actively getting hyped for a new game. I was still a kid back then and hadnt paid much attention before.

Brawl was such an insane cultural force and now the only thing it ever gets brought up for is as a punching bag because of tripping. It's a little sad.

The pre-Brawl hype was what led me to make an account here.

If only that game was half as good as the hype leading up to it.

You don't have time to ponder such questions, as Link has just grabbed a Smash Ball.

I was in my second year of high school when Brawl came out. In the months leading up to its release, my friends and I would check the latest Dojo updates every weekday, and then discuss them during lunch. Every newcomer reveal felt like an event. I miss those days.

It was such a great piece of marketing. Genuinely unrivalled before or since.
