monkmith posted... sure but when you see a cluster of deaths its worth looking into. could be nothing. could be cheating. It's pretty unlikely these days. Boxing did have a problem with doctored hand wraps up until surprisingly recently but a series of scandals led to changes. Hand wrapping has to be done with a member of the opponent's team watching now and the wraps are kept afterwards so they can be examined. Doctoring them is virtually impossible now and the Japan Boxing Commission in particular is notoriously strict about enforcement of the rules. --- "Bothering people when they're shopping or going to work or whatever because you find them attractive makes you scum of the earth." Pow_Pow_Punishment posted... Severe weight cuts are a very likely culprit. Dehydrating the brain like that can be the difference between life and death. I used to box, so while I get this, I would point out that extreme weight cuts are very common in the sport, while deaths are extraordinarily rare. Two fighters from the same card both dying is borderline unheard of, so there has to be a culprit more than just fairly routine catch weight shenanigans. Their gym was doing something fucked up, or the doctor missed something, or the fights were allowed to go on for too long, or some combo and more, no clue. There had to be a cacophony of fuckups or this is a one in a billion pairing of horribly dumb luck. --- Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less. https://youtu.be/lMss1CeHOiM ... Two boxers dying in the same night is crazy no matter what the reason. I watched some of Kotari's fight and didn't see any terrible reffing or stoppage there. --- Currently playing: Tales of the Abyss (PS2), Shenmue 2 (Steam), Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Training log: https://powpowpunishment.blogspot.com ... DragulaRULEZ posted... Back to bare knuckles, you can't punch someone to death with a broken hand. Well, it's not so much the blunt trauma of the weighted gloves as it makes it so much easier to cause their brain to bounce around in their skull if you hit them on the chin right. But in any case, it was probably weight cutting. Although I hear some Japanese boxers spar way too hard and they could have been sparring without helmets like literal days before their fights, on top of not listening to their bodies. --- "You're made of spare parts, aren't ya, bud?" ...
