No, the former Taco Bell CEO took over and is instituting "modern" changes to a store that relies on a specific image/layout.

Like, it's one thing not to like the change. It's a whole nuther barrel of crackers to think this change is woke and blame woke society for it.

I liked the logo because I thought it was funny. They had good breakfast the few times I've been to one.

At this point, 'woke' just means 'change'. Doesn't matter if it's good or bad. The act of simply changing things is upsetting for them.

I only have a Crate & Barrel.

As a graphic designer with now 10 years of experience under my belt, this push for minimalism should have died when it peaked in 2015. Why is it still as pervasive as it is today? Have we not moved past this minimalism era? It's sort of annoying.

There's no personality in the new one beyond the playful typographic treatment of the C and B in the word mark. But then that encase it in this hipster wide hexagon with curved edges that was all the rage with, like, indie craft beer downtown bars that was all the rage in the 2010s. It's tacky.

Pretty much this. It's crazy how companies have gone from wanting eye-catching logos to simplified or minimalist designs. Just makes it easier for people to disassociate.

The same thing has happened to their buildings. They used to have interesting designs or architecture. Now, all the food places have practically the same design. It's boring

Yep. There is one in my town in SC. I have only ate food from there like, twice in all my years of livin' pre-food delivery app times, lmao.

Decided to grubhub order some pancakes, eggs and bacon on one extremely lazy day sometime last years, and...............they aight' The only thing of note is that they have their own syrup in this tiny glass bottles that is sent with every pancake order, but its really nothing special from every other average pancake makin' chain place out there.

Its why it blows my mind why you have these old conservatives crying about changes to this place like they are changing recipes (or in this case a sign with a barrel and white guy, lol) from jesus himself or something.

Remember when the conservatives started crying and spraying piss on their phones because Cracker Barrel started offering plant-based sausage?

It is all in the name of hyper capitalism. Simple logos appear slightly more readable on phones. Boring building designs are typically cheaper to build and maintain. All done in an effort to attempt to squeeze out more profit at the cost of everything else.

They don't have good policies that they can champion. They don't have any plans to actually make things better for this silent majority they seem to think they have. So instead they play the victim and try to be the most oppressed group because then it seems like complaining is actually doing something to make things better for themselves.

The new logo is just generic and lame :/ the oversimplification of logos was already trite years ago.

The attempt to appeal to younger people is also just bizarre. I will never not associate Cracker Barrel with old people.

They have their priorities. They are fine with American citizens being vanished off the streets. They are fine with the national guard being sent into cities. They are fine with losing their healthcare. But don't dare simplify a restaurant logo.

I don't get their logic. They had a gimmick. Sure, it was stupid and only really attracted older small town folk but let's be real here their food is nothing special. Changing their image isn't going to bring in the hip young crowd it's just gonna chase off what was left of their rapidly dying (from old age) clientele.

the South is historically (and in many places still is) very rural and the loss of the Civil War set (big) city settlements back far enough that when the Northern and Western cities were developing their own cultural identities, the big Southern cities were still rebuilding or just recovering enough to be viable.

Also, everything in the South that isn't in a city... is rather far away. Just to get to school for me was a solid 15-20 minute drive by fastest route and by school bus it was a solid hour or more.

It's also why religion/Church is such a big thing in the South. If you worked on a farm, you went one of two places: the store/town and Church. You may go and hang out with the neighbors but generally if you weren't working, you were at home.

Which plays into why the cultural identity of the South is more... corporate/company based things, because outside of Church that was the big thing for your week/month. Going to the store, having a coke, getting a candy bar from grandpa.

I will say remodeling the actual store/restaurant to look more modern is a terrible idea. I saw a meme comparing it to the McDonalds change, but this is worse in a way since the rustic aesthetic of Cracker Barrel is a huge part of the appeal.
