Someone explain this to me without the virtue signaling rhetoric, please.

We know that tough language on drug cartels goes over well with conservative voters. We know Trump loves threats and loves sending in troops even more. I just find it hard to believe that US interests have not economically infiltrated the cartels.

To me it is more likely that some US corporation has partnered with the cartels and wants to weaken the Mexican government.

Maybe, but at the same time, a destabilized Mexico government introduces an unknown element to businesses. Businesses like stability and known elements because it brings profit and it's easier to deal with a partner you can predict than one that's unpredictable and also might decide to kill you in your sleep.

While everything you said sounds reasonable to me and everything Trump is doing sounds unreasonable to me, FACT IS some of the 00.01% are backing Trump and Project 2025 and the remainder of the 00.01% are not opposing Trump.

Nah. People need to disabuse themselves of the notion that the American people are going to rise up and take back the nation.

The vast majority of fascists regimes fall because the military turned on them (or they overextended themselves and blundered, like Nazi Germany famously did by betraying Stalin), and Trump is very busy making sure the leadership in the military won't do that.

There are civil war triggers but suspending elections likely isn't one of them. It's likely the complete and utter collapse of the entire American economy paired with overreach. Until the people have absolutely nothing left to lose there will be no civil war, people will instead hunker down and endure because that is safer and human nature.

Many people here don't like Claudia because she's just a continuation of the previous presidency and his ridiculous "hugs, not gunshots" which made crime so rampant in my country. Yeah the idea of this happening at all but we're clearly not doing anything either. I'm sick of living in fear, I want my country free of this filth.

In either scenario Trump will simply use his executive powers to declare there will be no election until the "war" is over (and this war will either conveniently never end or another paltry conflict will be started right before it does).

Congress will ignore the illegal conduct of the President like everything else they have ignored so far (case in point the illegal tariffs), law enforcement will enact his will because of how corrupted it all is, and your electoral commission will jump up and down for a week or two before giving up because they have zero power to override the active orders from the President if congress and law enforcement don't step in.

I am glad someone posted this. There is this weird fantasy Hollywood attitude toward politics despite time and again being shown it doesn't work that way. The "he can't do that, if he does it will be a civil war and he will lose" attitude is just divorced from reality and comes across as the latest cope (previously we had "he's going to jail" then we had "he won't win the election" then we had "he can't do the things he says he wants to do" now we have "civil war and he will lose").

Look, I have made my pessimism about where we are going with Trump obvious in multiple topics, but even Im getting sick of seeing multiple people act like this is a certainty. This is so far beyond what he has done so far, though I would not be surprised if he tried it, and do not rule out it going badly (for us), it is far too soon to treat it as a certainty.

trump literally had no ability to force people to vote for his Big beautiful bill and what he didn't get the votes... what did he do? he called them and made threats and then those very people who voted no for his bill voted yes

in texas the gov had no authority to force those congressmen & women to stay, hell it was literally kidnapping and yet he force them to stay until they sign a contract about what they can and can't do and to have armed escorts around them

he has no power to do this and he did it anyway

I do. The logistics simply aren't there. And that's will all active and reserve military at his disposal. Plus Trump actually has to make it to November 2026 to even have a chance to cancel anything. I don't think his health will let him hang in that long even with the best money can buy
