It's not worst game ever or anything but I wouldn't really call it good either. Some things about it are neat but there are some strange / frustrating design choices as well. The live action cutscenes are fun though in a cheesy b-movie sort of way.

This is more of a museum rather than an Ultimate Collection. Its like the Tetris and Atari games.

Also the Tetris and Atari ones had DLC later, so maybe this will too? I mean it is still pretty cool that we are getting all these different variations of the older games, especially since some of them have never been seen outside of the original release.

An online-capable MK3 cabinet running that in theory could have made for multiplayer matches across cities. That specific version was apparently the ultimate MK3 port and had more content.

I was kind of interested, but the more I think about it, I don't really care about these games that much. I played some of them sporadically and MK4 a whole bunch, but the one I really loved was Deadly Alliance.

Trilogy, for the most part, has all the previous content and then some.

Nobody liked MK4. Weapons were so OP they made not using weapons at every possible opportunity a waste of time.

Either way, I played all these when I was a kid or teenager and it was mostly a singleplayer endeavour for me and I had immense fun with Deadly Alliance. My understanding is that Frost doesn't appear in many of the games after DA. Absolute crime. Justice for Frost.

Nah it was MK4 you could pull the weapons out with a special move and sometimes pick them up off the stage and they were better than basically everything else.

This collection is focused on the early years of Mortal Kombat. The GBA games are probably in due to how easy it is for them to be emulated.

Hopefully, the Sega CD version of MK gets added and the Master System versions of I-III

They'll probably eventually make a collection that is Shaolin Monks, Deadly Alliance PS2, Deception, and Mortal Kombat Armageddon. And maybe if we're lucky they'll add online Mortal Karting.

I didn't know what the wavenet version of UMK3 was. Looking at a couple sources online, it was a test for an online-enabled arcade MK game, but also it was an updated version of UMK3 with balance changes and playable Noob Saibot. It was only ever tested in a couple of locations before Midway shelved it and the ROM was never even dumped online, so it wasn't even possible to pirate it. So this is actually huge that this is included in the collection.
