If you duped legitimate bills, the duped bills would pass all tests just like the originals would. No one is going to know someone made a magical 2nd copy of a bill and that there is another bill out there with a matching serial.

I was going to say eventually they would find it's way to the bank, but let's think about it for a minute. What if a person is NOT duplicating thousands of bills a week and is doing a much smaller number. A store isn't going to know these bills have duplicate serials as other bills (provided the person isn't using the same bills at the same location). If I use a $100 bill at this store and get change then use another $100 bill at a different store, who would know? And how would it come back to me? Especially if I'm not duplicating the same serial every day or taking the duped cash to a bank.

I would take the easier route anyway and dupe something that's high value and easy to sell like some kind of mineral.

I think the hardest thing to figure out about these scenarios is how to cover it.

If you just started randomly selling mountains of rare metals or saffron or whatever despite not having any kind of actual mine or farm or anything to plausibly explain where its all coming from, you're going to attract a lot of unwanted attention.

So that's got to be part of the plan. I think you'd need to invest in some kind of farmland as a cover or something.

I know everyone always finds a way to turn this into money. I like to take these scenarios less serious and not try to just break the system and go with something normal that would be nice.

So I would duplicate a nice ribeye steak. Thats like 12 ounces. I love beef and you would never go hungry and would help lower your grocery bill which is my biggest expense even though I have low bills and plenty of money.

if you diversified the bills you duplicated and didn't mass duplicate any bill then yeah you could get away with it, thing is you'd have to move around a lot. because the treasury department will eventually notice the duplicates, and if you're just sitting in the same city doing this they will narrow down to that city.

and what if that city is in a country that doesn't have an extradition treaty with the US? I think you'd be pretty safe all things considered

The problem with this hypothetical for not being money chasing is the mass is so low there's not much else creative you can do with it. Like dupe enough ground beef to make burgers for 4 people instead of 2? Slowly stock up on toilet paper, one roll at a time?
