I'll get it after I'm done with Bananza. It'll be great but they hype has reached levels that are unreasonable. I think Prince of Persia the Lost Crown might honestly be the better Metroidvania, Hollow Knight gameplay is pretty simplistic and the story follows a lot of Soulslike cliches that I'm not a fan of. --- Guilty of snore crimes ... Cruddy_horse posted... No, Hollow Knight was horrible. I genuinely don't understand why it has so much acclaim I get it, even if I don't get it. It's not even remotely my thing. I'm not really a fan of the genre, and I'm not a fan of the aesthetic. But I can kind of understand why other people might be. And in a time period where worthwhile games are rare pearls in an ocean of slop, I can see why people would latch on to a game they liked. I feel like a lot of fans have built Silksong up in their minds to the point where it cannot possible satisfy them though. Not to mention that people who enjoyed the original game are now nearly a decade older and not necessarily the same people they were then. Kallainanna posted... It's not the only bit of (recent) famous vapourware that is releasing soon: Vampire: The Masquerade- Bloodlines 2 releases October 21st. Thankfully, I was never a theater kid, so I've never felt the compulsion to play a Toreador. Whoo-hoo! ...sadly, Lasombra is also in that DLC, and they basically were my Clan (them and the Tremere are my top 2, Ventrue's #3, and Malks are #4). So it's annoying. But I wasn't going in assuming they'd let me play a Lasombra in the first place (because the obvious choice is to just stick to Camarilla Clans). It also seems like they designed the game around the traditional melee/magic/stealth dichotomy, and then picked the best Clans to fit that. So you've got your Fighter Brujah, Mage Tremere, Assamite Rogues, and Ventrue is basically the Charisma-class who can probably talk their way through most combat. So I can kind of understand why they'd de-prioritize Toreador (a charisma class overlap with Ventrue) and Lasombra (who would probably slot into the stealth category because of their shadow powers). Gangrel and Nosferatu are a bit more glaring, though I assume they were dropped because in the new metaplot the Gangrel are no longer part of the Camarilla, and the Nosferatu would have to have their own entirely different form of gameplay (unless you just have Mask of a Thousand Faces on at all times, in which case you've wasted all their flavor and they're just another stealth class anyway). It's also interesting to see just how different the Clans are storywise. If it feels like playing as a given Clan almost changes the entire game, then it could almost be justifiable for the DLC to be expensive, if it means they had to record a metric fuckton of new dialogue and make radical changes to combat and gameplay for each new Clan. But if it's just like how Baldur's Gate III handled different classes (which each class having a few extra dialogue lines that barely change anything), then it's much less justifiable. I am curious how Bloodlines 2 turns out. On the one hand, we can almost ignore the troubled dev cycle because it's only really been in development for two years - most of the original work and vision was probably shitcanned when an entirely new studio took over the job, and most of the behind-the-scenes problems we heard about were more Hardsuit Chinese Room. So it COULD be good. But on the other hand, it's only been in current development for less than 2 years, under a studio that's never handled a game anywhere near this magnitude, and it's based on the current edition of the tabletop game's metaplot (which is kind of shit). So it could be absolutely terrible. I want to love it (I loved the original tabletop game and the original Bloodlines), but I have no intention of ever buying it until months later, after multiple content patches have come out and people online have given reviews I trust to judge if it sounds like trash or if it's somehow miraculously turned out good. --- "Wall of Text'D!" --- oldskoolplayr76 "POwned again." --- blight family ...
