So whether the outcome was good or bad, it was pretty good advertising for them.

I've heard of it but never actually seen one. I don't think they exist on the west coast, which is where I spent most of my life. And they definitely are not in Alaska

Consumerism is a trip. So embarrassing to see people get riled up over some stupid logo that most people have never even heard of.

I didn't know it was a restaurant until now. I think I thought it was an antique store or something.

I live in the south so I've seen them around. Never ate there before.

If there's any complaints about the logo changing outside of a simple "I liked the old one better", I can only assume it's over some of the most [redacted] shit.

I've heard of them a few times over the years. But I had no idea what they sell, and I still don't.

Edit: After reading the other posts here, I slightly know what they sell.

The food is a barely a step above Golden corral.

Which how I found out. When my sister passed I got pretty angry at my family for not telling me till it was to late. So for 5y or so I would spend the holidays with my friends family. The wait time was 2h. I was so unimpressed at the food. We did it again the next year same deal. I told my friend never again I can cook it faster and eat better quality food. This was 2018 so after his fall which doing this was harder than normal. Sadly the next year would be the last one we got to spend together.

Golden Corral is a buffet restaurant. Food is low tier quality but it's all you can eat

It's okay. It's just a kitschy family restaurant, not something you have everyday. It's mostly just an agreeable place you go if your family wants to eat out but can't think of anything.

The gift shop is almost more interesting than the restaurant itself. Most of it being novelty items and knick-knacks, but occasionally you'll find something cool.

The entire "experience" relies on an extreme appeal to nostalgia. That's one of the reasons the recent branding changes come off as jarring.

I imagine they don't sell it anymore, but when my parents worked there like fifteen years ago, I remember they sold a cane with a little mirror on the bottom.

I'd been to it a few times, even went for Thanksgiving once. It's not bad but definitely felt more like a 7/10 "home cooking" kinda place for people who get the senior discount.

I guess they're gonna be modernizing the gift store too and changing the furniture around which all sounds kinda weird to me, if they do too much it'll alienate the regulars I feel like

I thought Cracker Barrels were ubiquitous along all the major interstates in most states. My parents took me to eat there in the 90s.

Nothing wrong with the food, besides being unhealthy as fuck. Who hates southern food? The country fried steak, chicken and dumplings, and breakfast items are pretty good.

Oh and they have this side item, a cheesy hashbrown casserole. So good....

Was a place that we always stopped at when I was younger going to visit my mom's family. was right in the middle of the drive and that usually was around noon or a little after, my dad also always had this thing about wanting to get out of the car and have a sit down meal instead of going through a drive thru and getting there half an hour or more earlier.

Food was always fine, and I still do not get anything in regards to why so many people are up in arms over them changing the logo.

I think the problem that makes a lot of people commented despite not knowing the brand before, is that it's yet another example of a company "modernizing" their logo by making it looks extremely simple with just the brand name on a single color or white background and nothing else, thus removing anything that makes the logo fun or unique and more noticeable in the first place.

I think it's funny and I love watching them try to be clever with their memes. Has anyone else seen the picture going around on social media with Aunt Jemima, Uncle Ben, the "Cream of Wheat" guy, and the "Land-O-Lakes" Indian princess all in heaven with a sad looking Cracker Barrel man walking towards them?

So many cracker flavors and they chose to be saltines.

Yeah I saw that in a discord group chat with my HS friends from the reservation I grew up on. That "Indian princess" is not a princess. She is an Ojibwe woman drawn by a local Ojibwe artist near that reservation. It's a pretty complicated thing. A common joke back there is that white people are always trying to "get rid of the Indian and keep the Land".

Markiplier is the only reason I knew it existed before the logo change.

Golden Corral, I know and seen. You can find some in Maryland at least. Cracker Barrel seems to be more further south.

I eat there every other month or so.

Go for breakfast over dinner. But even then they arent great.

This. I haven't dined in at restaurants much ever since the pandemic but a lot of the "flavor" of eating at Cracker Barrel is lost if I just get take out. Otherwise it's just alright. Probably my favorite is the grilled catfish.

Employees said they were planning on making other changes as well. Including lowering food quality

There's one near me that I drive by regularly but almost never go to. The few times I have it's always been for breakfast, and their french toast was pretty good. So, it's alright, I guess? Just another one of many chain restaurants with average food from my experience.

Its a horrid place. Much better places to eat at. The food isn't that great. Plus the company has a bad history against various groups. Easy to look it up...

Either way...the whining over a logo is pretty dumb. People just love to be outraged over tiny things.
