Hello all! The NSO completion dream continues for ctes, mzero, wallz, ZeroSignal, Hobo, Suprak and friends. If youd like to formally join the project, just start posting! =)

Heres the original intro from thread 1:

On October 10, 2013, Torbjrn Thor Pedersen left his job, girlfriend, and family behind in Denmark to embark on an epic journey. His goal? To visit every country in the world without flying. Thor has just returned home, having completed his journey after a decade.

Hi, Im Wallz. I like video games and setting ambitious goals Ill almost certainly never follow through to completion. In honor of Thor Pedersens impressive feat, today I embark on a significantly more impressive quest to play and, where applicable, beat/complete every game offered via Nintendo Switch Online in the NA region. This includes replaying games Ive played before. My realistic goal is to at least spend some quality time playing every one of these titles. I suppose theres a chance some titles will get delisted, at which point those games will no longer count towards my goal.

Unlike Thor, Wallz does prioritize family the highest but keeps around and has nonetheless by starting this series gotten others to play a bunch of old games!

Feel free to also chat here about games youre playing on NSO, relevant news, or just complain about the lack of DS games.

The last thing I tried on NSO was Earthworm Jim.

I beat both titles at a younger age but they're both still tough in their unique ways

I finished Super Mario World. Ill try to write a bit more at length soon, but the game clicked much more for me this time around. I liked it the first time, but now I see it as an all-time great platformer.

Shining Force II comes with a good amount of QoL upgrades to item handling.

Otherwise, it's largely just more of the same combat wise. Which is of course nice when you loved the first.

They literally just announced Virtual Boy. Coming February 17th, 2026.

Wario Land and Teleroboxer are both pretty great games on the Virtual Boy. Thought Mario Clash and Red Alarm were pretty good too tbh.

I'd love to play some of those again but I don't really want to buy one of the accessories for it.

I played a handful of them when the Virtual Boy came out. Most of them are all right or really good. The games weren't really the problem with the Virtual Boy. I mentioned them before but make sure to at least check out Wario and Teleroboxer.

also want to play FFT for GotM and then there's Pokemon, Katamari, and Digimon this month and I want to play all of them

Yeah, I'm also working on the same games.

But today with these new additions, I will knock out some NSO games.

Ctes has beaten Fatal Fury 2

Now that Special was added, I thought it was fine to beat the other one first, but this is not really that great imo, I think there are other games around the same time of the same kind that outclass it. It was fortunately a pretty short experience of beating the 8 characters and 4 bosses. The 3D movement thing was probably cool but I prefer it not being there.

I also started that Bubsy game and it is terrible but luckily pretty easy and seemingly not too long. I should have just passed the halfway point.

MZero has beaten Mario and Wario

When I looked up what this game was I noticed it came out in 1993, so I figured why not? The timing was perfect. Unfortunately the game is not. I mean, it's an SNES game that uses a mouse so I'm not surprised but yikes the controls are bad. Some of the design decisions don't make much sense either. Why isn't there anyway to stop Mario from walking? Also why can't he jump? He's Mario for crying out loud!

I've mentioned this before, but I like my puzzle games to be mostly man versus puzzle. The more focused it is on solving and less on execution the better, and this one leans heavily toward the latter. Most of the puzzles are pretty easily to figure out but actually executing is the hurdle. If I wanted that, I'd play a platformer! It's especially bad when the controls aren't very responsive.

The concept is decent but the execution isn't great. There are some fun levels, some infuriating levels, and a bunch in the middle. Overall it's pretty meh

Nice! How long did that one take?

It was like 3-4 hours, pretty quick to get through. There are 100 levels (10 worlds, 10 stages each) and you can continue on the same stage on the first 8 worlds, but Worlds 9 and 10 make you start over from stage 1 if you get a game over, so that's kind of annoying and adds some time

btw the Joy-Con mouse thing didn't work very well so I hooked up my PC mouse and that was much better (still not great though)

I beat the first two worlds. Might want to set up a PC mouse yeah. It's not very fun.

This was trash. Controls horribly, feels like the physics constantly change. For a game where you can only jump, this meeds to be way better. Levels are poorly designed and often requires going into something blind. Bosses are bland.

Imagine if they released Resident Evil Gaiden, Metal Gear: Ghost Babel, and Conker's Pocket Tales at once. Three E/T-rated GBC games from typically M-rated series.

Knocked out two recently.

Earthworm Jim isn't as fun as I remember it being, and various levels are quite frustrating. Still, it has a unique charm to it.

Bubsy is trash, plain and simple. Unmemorable bosses, cookie cutter levels, very easy to run into death, and one hit kills on top of that. No wonder you start with 10 lives

Yeah I'm fine if I can just keep up in this busy season for me that also has many new games I want to play. Probably can be done.

MZero has beaten Side Pocket

This is a tough one to rank. The game plays fine and it's pretty fun once you get going, but the story mode is kind of dumb. After beating a stage you have one shot at some trick shot and if you miss you have to do another whole table, and if you run out of shots you have to go all the way back to the beginning. It's just kind of tedious having to take so much time between attempting the challenge trick shots, like a Dark Souls boss runback but worse. Luckily it's not too long and the gameplay is good enough, so it's decent. Probably more fun to play multiplayer.
