Like, we're in it. And most people are not doing anything at all, because it's awkward and uncomfortable.

not only that but doing anything results in either death, jail or sent to a camp on the other side of the world. the modern world has already left us behind and what really stings is that people were warned, people knew what this was gonna be and STILL voted for it

"Yeah well it's just typical Americans blah blah..."

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/aug/30/europe-anti-migrant-vigilantes-spain-poland-netherlands-iceland-northern-ireland

Sporting black shirts emblazoned with an iron cross, a dozen or so men marched through the centre of Reykjavk, courting attention on a buzzy Friday night. In Poland and the Netherlands, vigilantes thronged along the German border, ready to turn back any asylum seekers they came across. In Belfast, they roamed after sunset, demanding to see the identity documents of migrants and people of colour.

Each of the groups, who are part of a renewed wave of anti-migrant vigilantes that have sprung up in recent months across Europe, have sought to cast themselves as a sort of protective force. But those who have studied vigilantes warn that their actions often exacerbate security concerns, sow fear and fuel the far right.Europe has long seen waves of anti-migrant vigilantes, often springing up as the discourse around migration hardens. This summer has been no exception: Spain had days of turbulence in the south-eastern province of Murcia after dozens of baton-wielding individuals took to the streets to hunt people with foreign origins, while Belfast, in Northern Ireland, has grappled with a campaign of intimidation targeting people of colour. In Poland, self-declared citizen patrols, at times numbering in the hundreds, gathered along the border with Germany earlier this summer, insisting their presence was needed to prevent asylum seekers from moving between the two countries.

The Netherlands had a similar movement, with a dozen or so people heading to the German border near the villages of Ter Apel and Sellingen in June. Sporting high-visibility vests and lamps, they reportedly spent one night flagging down vehicles, asking people to show identification.

Germany had a population of around 80 million people when the nazis rose to power. I don't believe for a second that they all just woke up one morning and had a bloodlust for putting jewish people in gas chambers. I do think they were easily manipulated by the people who did have that bloodlust, though.

Not words you'll ever hear from my mouth. At the moment we (the brits) are dealing with a strangely rapid rising anti-immigrant sentiment that is infecting all of our parents from facebook and twitter, as well as our supposedly left wing goverment deciding that "boat people" is the core issue they want to campaign on.

He was always a military American nationalist back on the Politics board who was constantly taking jabs at other nations (usually Asian ones) to prop the US up and now that the country is the state that it's in, he's constantly looking for non-majority groups to blame in order to deflect responsibility from the majority that put it that way.

lol I was not putting words in his mouth, just mocking people (usually Americans) who come into these topics and act like this is solely an American issue. Social media brainrot is everywhere. pinky is pretty much the only legit poster on CE. Anyway have fun with PM Farage.

Anyway, here's some good old New Zealand racism.

I only have to drive to the next town to see all the flags hung from lampposts by racists obeying orders from Britain First to know it's not just an American issue.

No doubt they will enjoy PM Farage. As will the media, for the same reasons they enjoy Trump and Boris Johnson.

Everyone's got the potential to contribute. Want to pitch in when/if things pop off? Get your ham license, start learning whatever you can. When phones are surveillance devices and online platforms are compromised, we're going to need communications. You could also start learning Meshtastic, but the bar of entry's a little higher-- or so I've heard.

I would argue social media helped the right in elections. The right had more money to spend. Ergo commercial media and social mefia favored them.

How hard is that to figure out?

Social media is literally why the right is growing. Because we've allowed unfettered bullshit to be spread on it because the people in charge of it want the money that comes with rightwing governments.

Best way to put it. Everyone during Nazi germany heard of the camps, but didnt understand the scale of what was happening plus propaganda shifted eyes away from it.

social media makes these kinda things harder to do slightly, but sadly also serve as a powerful propaganda engine as well. So sadly, we likely arent better off

it's the primary reason. Democrats have no real answer to this. The alt-right have been influencing social media for years. Youtube is infested with it and the algo sends people to it.

The rich elites are all in Trumps hand groveling.

Its all so frustrating.
