Pro-Palestinian protesters gathered Thursday outside the Democratic Party of Lane Countys offices in downtown Eugene.

They continued their calls for elected officials to describe Israels actions in Gaza as a genocide.

We want for Senators Wyden and Merkley and Congresswoman Val Hoyle to represent the interests of Americans, not the state of Israel," Planet Vs. Pentagon spokesperson Trisha Driscoll told KLCC.

Driscoll called on the lawmakers to stop calling the Israel-Palestine conflict a war, to defy pro-Israel lobbyists that have supported some Democratic lawmakers, and to advocate for a one-state solution with equal rights.

Merkley has called starvation in Gaza collective punishment, and voted to try to block some weapon shipments to Israel. He recently visited the region and told the Oregon Capital Chronicle he saw Rafah in "absolute rubble."

Wyden recently signed onto a letter asking for investigations and potential sanctions against Israel settlers over aid interference, and has called for a ceasefire. But he voted against blocking arms to Israel earlier this year, citing potential threats from Iran.

Speaking to reporters in Eugene last month before a contentious town hall, Hoyle said she would stop the war in Gaza if she could. Shes called Israels actions ethnic cleansing. Last month, she signed onto the Block the Bomb Act, which would prevent the President from sending some weapons to Israel without congressional approval.

Couldn't possibly protest against Trump or Republicans. Someone might be rude to them.

Protesters should be aware that getting arrested is a risk they have to take in order to send a message, yet what exactly is the point of protesting against the mentioned officials who are already critical of Israel's actions?

I agree that protesting against Republicans is more dangerous, but at some point they're going to have to ultimately face them instead of simply going after low-hanging fruit that is the Democratic Party.

Well, maybe these protestors shouldn't have helped ensure that the party who would do that to peaceful protesters was in power.

They do. The media doesn't report it or care. People protest republicans all the time. You of course wouldn't know that as your only objective is to paint anyone critical of the Democrats as being bad.

Last year the message from the COG crew on CE was that we couldn't protest the RNC because it might be dangerous, but that other people should totally go protest the DNC and assault the police and get arrested because that's not dangerous. It's also not dangerous to risk helping Trump win, because reasons.

You guys remember that? Shit was wild. There were photos of giant piles of "hurr durr killer kamala" signs being dumped outside the DNC by totally not suspicious people, and people here were like "oh yeah you guys should go pick up a sign and protest the DNC." And people said to these totally not suspicious COG types "oh so you're going to go join the protests too" and they were always like "uh well I got stuff to do, my cat is hungry kbai."

Always remember, it's not a circular firing squad. It's a regular firing squad. They don't want Democrats to win. If they actually wanted change, they'd be doing this to the party that has the power right now.

Unfortunately, many of them just want a punching bag that won't fight back much. If you ask me, that's also a form of cowardice since there are more relevant targets out there, making them hardly better than the so-called spineless Democrats that live rent-free in their heads.
