emblem-man 09/09/25 11:34:34 AM #1:	Like someone who speaks Spanish decently well, but they have an obvious American accent. Seems like a weird think to poke fun at. I mean, we wouldn't(shouldn't) maybe fun of someone speaking English with an accent right? Seems true for the reverse as well. Don't know. At times it seems like English speakers having an accent when speaking non English tends to be an "acceptable" thing to poke fun at, but it shouldn't be --- Trump is pursuing a chaotic far-right overthrow of existing US government norms and checks and balances, trying to destroy our way of life. <cite>emblem-man posted [p:986348891] in It's kinda... Yes, people do make fun of non American English accents and outside of people who are assholes, I think it's generally understood that you shouldn't make fun of it. My post was more saying that people who would generally agree with the above that you shouldn't make fun of it, at times, aren't consistent when it's the other way around. Please don't take my statement to mean that non American English accents aren't made fun of, and I'm not making a claim about who has it worse or better. Obviously with most of us living in the US, we are exposed more to people speaking English with an accent more than the reverse.
