The only reason I think it wasn't by Trump and his cult is because they couldn't plan their way out of a paper bag. Oh and they wouldn't be able to keep it a secret for long. I honestly feel like it was someone who had issues with Kirk and Trump just got really lucky on the timing.

If this was planned, they wouldn't have to kill him. You don't *need* to have a death to lionize this situation. Even a failed attempt that ends with a transgender/individual with transgender support getting arrested and tried for attempted murder would get the point across.

I won't say his point was proven, because 90% of all gun violence still has nothing to do with transgender shooters.

The problem is that this whole event basically is firebombing any support transgender individuals could build up in the future. Resorting to the same tactics that you decry the right for basically proves all the "same thing both sides" people right, and just gives more reasons to point to them and suggest punitive action.

You could drop the idiotic idea that that proved his point. No, I am not celebrating what happened. I would not rule out someone (just someone, I really really doubt it was government planned) doing it to make trans people look bad.

But considering the boards obsession with crying out how bad things are, that is no chance of things getting better, and the governments hate for trans people among other groups, I cant exactly rule out one of them feeling similar despair, seeing no other option and thinking what is the point of putting it off, that lashing out is the only option.

Again mods, not celebrating it, or attacking anyone, just considering what might have driven someone to that point. IF these reports are true.

Almost all 9/11 coverage has been preempted for the first time in my memory.

The media could end up overplaying their hand in this case. A significant chunk of the conservative voting bloc (mostly older, I'd guess) had never heard of Charlie Kirk before yesterday, and him getting more attention than 9/11 might not sit well with them.

I'm not a gun owner, but I do lightly support the second amendment. I agree that gun culture has gone too far. There needs to be regulation of some kind, but IDK exactly what that looks like. Limiting gun purchases by mental wellness sounds like a good idea, but I guarantee you one side of the aisle will try claiming that being trans then means you're mentally unwell so they can't buy guns.

The era of bearing arms allowing you to resist the government was pretty much gone the second airplanes were invented, and now a drone is more likely to deal with a 'militia'. I was talking about Charlie's stance on guns. Specifically, when he said, "Its worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment.

The hypocrisy on her part. The sheer fucking hubris. Go to church, Nancy, and maybe try to find your god for a change instead of making him up as you go to serve your own political interests. ALEC, the Kochs, Heritage, Federalist Society... It's not a short list of the people pouring money into this kind of sea change in the political discourse, as well as to the state of states' legislation.
