I really wish I had a way to tell my bank "disable fraud alert/prevention on this credit card for 1 or 2 hours". I would absolutely demand such a feature be heavily secured (like needing two separate rounds of 2FA to authorize through your banking app - something my banking app does when I want to look at the full account and routing numbers of one of my accounts) but I still wish it existed so I could preemptively notify my bank if I'm about to make a really strange or sketchy transaction(s). I ran into this yesterday (I kind of expected to but it's aggravating nonetheless) because I tried to make a series of purchases that 100% look like I'm either being scammed or someone stole my credit card (trying to buy huge quantities of Apple gift cards at a gas station) but it was totally legit (that credit card gets the highest rate of cash back on purchases made at gas stations and I want to use those gift cards to buy my next iPhone). I managed to purchase one gift card but every other attempt I made for the rest of the day backfired no matter where I went and I can't tell if it's because my credit card is locking itself down (I got a fraud notification text from the bank but I said every attempted transaction that they were dinging my card for were ones I had authorized) or the gas stations themselves because of thieves trying to buy up as many gift cards as they can with a credit account before the owner shuts it down. I don't disagree with either scenario but if I'm the one trying to use my credit card in a really bizarre way it would be a lot easier to understand what I'm running up against if I could eliminate one of these two restrictions so I know what's causing it if I'm still getting blocked. Since I can't tell which one is impeding me I have no idea if trying to contact my bank is actually fixing the problem or just kicking the can down the road because I'm still tripping their antifraud prevention. --- Remember: it's time for games to cost $100. ...WAIT, I WASN'T READY!! ...
