I'll translate some pieces talked about here. Spoilers for the franchise, but no specific details mentioned.
  • They initially wanted to remake/reboot 1 with a changed story, but realized that 1 is too integral to the setting of Danganronpa, and dropped that idea in favor of 2 due to its setting.
  • The alternate scenario is described as happening concurrently with original DR2, rather than as a branching path. (?, might be misinterpreting this)
  • In this alternate scenario, all the events of the franchise's story that happened before this are canon. But when asked if this means Danganronpa 3: The Anime doesn't happen, he merely says "Look forward to how this new story ends."
  • All the VAs are returning, re-recording all their old lines as well as in the alternate story (except for Monokuma's and Monomi's JPN VAs as they passed away).
  • "Stay tuned for updates" in regards to if the old bonus modes will be returning or if they made any significant gameplay changes.
  • On the 15th Anniversary of the franchise (November 2025) they will reveal a first demo of the game. Assuming this means a general demonstration and not a playable public demo.

You can consider it that, yeah. It's just the new game uses the same characters and setting of 2.

It makes me curious what they're gonna do with it.

As loved as he is, they'll either take him all the way through to the end or kill him first for shock value. They love fucking with the fans, it could go either way.
