Bulma is technically Bloomers but no one's gonna pick up on that. There's a couple of other weird ones like Piccolo (a relatively obscure instrument) or Garlic Jr. (an unimportant filler character). Isn't there a breakoff timeline where after Trunks goes back to his time, after the first meeting with Goku, imperfect cell sneaks up on him and kills them and then uses the time machine to go to the present? Its extra confusing because Son Goku is the Japanese pronunciation of the Chinese characters for Sun Wukong, the Monkey King from Journey to the West. To my knowledge, Sun is still used as a surname there, but it uses the character for the Macaque and the translation of the full name is something like Monkey awakened to emptiness. That said, in the Japenese dub, Bulma always refers to Goku as Son-kun, so thats a dead giveaway.
