I've don't watch late night show videos on youtube but youtube keeps recommending them over and over. And won't stop recommending no matter what. I don't care what a late night show host's opinion is on whatever the current hot topic is.

Funnily enough, asking google's AI why youtube keeps recommending late night show videos, its answer is because "the algorithm thinks your interested in them", where as asking grok, grok says because youtube thinks those videos will make youtube the most money.

Ugh, I kept getting those kinds of medical and cleaning videos until I stopped asking to not be recommended them and started reporting them.

facebook does that to me now

and i don't even use facebook but maybe once every few months, and ive certainly never watched a hoof cleaning video

i avoid ""satisfying"" medical videos like the plague. get that shit out of my sight there's nothing satisfying about what's going on with that foot

Just dont click them and youtube will eventually stop recommending them

Both statements can be true. Youtube recommends what it thinks you will click on, which will make them more money. Them recommending you a video you wont watch doesnt make them money, so them giving you bad recommendations isnt in their best interest. Their algorithm does think you will watch them, something must have triggered it to think so. When I see a video type multiple times that I dont want to see, I click the tree dots and say stop showing me this kind of video and I dont see it anymore, or as often. At least for a few months, if ever.

I blocked Demon Slayer on Google about a year ago.

Every 3rd article on the Google news feed is about Demon Slayer. I never fucking click on them. Ever.

You must be watching something that YouTube directly connects to "Late Night Talk Show", because I can honestly say I don't think YouTube has recommended me a single late night clip in at least the last 5 years. And I almost never click on "don't recommend this", so it's not even that I've managed to filter it out of my own feed. YouTube has just never seen a point in recommending it to me, ever.

People always complain that their recommendations or their ads don't reflect what they're watching, but that isn't true at all. Your recommendations and ads always reflect what you're watching. It's just not always an obvious connection, because YouTube isn't going "You clearly like X, so I'll recommend X". What YouTube is doing is going "You like X, and these other people over here also like X, and I can see that they also like Y and Z, so I'm going to start recommending Y and Z to you as well, even if you don't care about Y and outright hate Z."

Apparently people who watch a lot of the same things I watch also love videos of people crafting knives from scratch. Every other video on my feed that isn't from a channel I actually watch is titled "I forged a Damascus whogivesashit" and I cannot make them go away no matter how many times I ask both the subject and channel to never be recommended again.

Even when I am logged out of Youtube on a completely separate computer, they still get recommended. Volatile political slop is the default.

Think about how many people's daily routine is wake up, turn on political commentary, go to work, go home, turn on political commentary, go to bed.

Legitimately a miserable life.
