I bought this one recently, came out to almost exactly $1200. So far runs Starfield on everything maxed out at 60+ FPS.

Bro that budget should be able to play cyberpunk on ultra settings at 1440p with over 90FPS, provided you're not anti AI upscaling.

How's this relative to its price? I'm a complete fumble when it comes to PC specs and I'm not gonna build one myself. I'm just planning to pick one up on Black Friday this year, my current computer has served me well but it's 6 years old and blue screens occasionally, particular if I'm playing Resident Evil 4.

Would not recommend anything with 8GBs of VRAM. It's just barely enough for some titles at 1080p.

I'd try to find a 5070 or 9060xt 16GB.

I really don't need to play games at max settings, my current pc only has 6 GB of VRAM (assuming I'm looking at the correct setting).

I really don't play high spec games, Doom Eternal and Resident Evil 4 remake are probably the most visually-advanced games I own.

I still wouldn't recommend it with games starting to require raytracing by default.

For the next few years, yeah.

If you can hold out and wait for MSRP to drop on them, I would recommend going with the rx 9070xt over a rtx 5070.

The real question though, how comfortable are you with building your own pc? If you're not, you can purchase the parts and find a pc service shop to put it together for you. This typically costs around $100 so you may need to budget for that.

Also, he didn't list it but make sure that the RAM and the motherboard are compatible by default if you don't know how to set your own RAM timings. For an AMD board, you'll want to make sure the RAM says it is EXPO. For an Intel board, you want to use XMP. These don't mean too much on their own other than they already come with profiles set for their type of processor you are using. You can use RAM with an XMP profile on an AMD board, I'm using that myself, but then you will want to set the timings for it in the BIOS to ensure system stability. Not all shops will optimize the BIOS for you though.

Our gaming PC has a 9070 XT and it's absolutely great. 25% cheaper than the 5070 Ti, which from what I hear (never used a 5070 Ti myself) the question of which of the two is better just depends which game you're playing, and it's always pretty damn close.

Nvidia's advantage right now is still ray tracing performance, while their disadvantage is ironically enough drivers (and price gouging.)

AMD runs better in Linux though.

it's better to look a little more towards the future and not focus on just being able to play a 5 year old game. you don't want to struggle playing a game in a few years.

i like 1440p but if you just went for playing at 1080p you could save some money that way. $1200 isn't really gonna run 4k so don't look at that for a monitor. if you're buying one or have a 1440p i'd go with that but if you have a 1080p monitor you're planning to keep then you should be able to run most games at high settings still with $1200.

It will definitely be an upgrade but there are some things I really don't like about that build.

The RAM they list for both the 16GB and 32GB options is slow for DDR5. For RAM speed, divide the MT/s by the CL number. For the 16GB it is 5600/46 which is very slow for DDR5. The 32GB option is better but still on the slower side being 5600/32. Generally, you want a number that comes out to be 200 or more. Typically, that would be 6000 MT/s and CL30 with current DDR5.

Next, they include a hard drive. I don't even know why they would do that and charge such a high price for it. Hard drives are very slow by today's standard and should only be used for high capacity backup storage. If they took that $60 and put it into the 2TB SSD, it would be much better. The SSD though is only a gen 3 which is quite expensive at that price and capacity.

The 9060 xt is a good budget card so no complaints there. Just need to make sure it is the 16GB version instead of the 8GB version. Fortunately, it looks like that build only uses the 16 GB version. Just don't try to push your graphic settings too high. Best bang for your buck is still the 9070 xt though and the rtx 5070 is a good middle ground between the two.

I would see if you can find someone to put together the PC that pinky0926 listed the parts for. The only thing I don't like about that PC at that price point is the graphics card but it's still a good card overall and a much improved upgrade over your 1070. The real trick is to buy during a sale though. GPU and CPU likely won't be on sale but the other parts likely will be.

Also, keep in mind that neither of these prices include monitors or keyboard and mouse.

Yeah, I'm running it myself and it is fantastic. AMD really killed it with the 9070 xt this gen. For those that got it at MSRP, it was an amazing deal given the GPU market at the time.

I'm also rocking one, it does a pretty reasonable job running a 32:9 1440p monitor as long as raytracing isn't involved.

Even with raytracing, it has been pretty solid once you enable FSR 4. With FSR 5 on the horizon by end of year, it will probably perform even better than now. Granted, I mainly play at 1080p so that is a much lighter load on the card than playing at 1440p. Those using 1440p will likely see a bigger increase than I would.

16:9 4K 144hz here. Dunno if its maxing it out, but it feels like it runs smoothly without dips.
