In the wake of the critical and commercial success of Amazons hit show Fallout, rumours are beginning to emerge that suggest a new videogame based on the property could be created.

The post-apocalyptic setting, the weird creatures, the great characters, I really think this whole thing could really work as a game, said game expert Kelly Grace.

Maybe not based rigidly on the story from the show, but more just based in the same world, in the same setting. I mean, the whole feel of show is great, super-atmospheric. Its a really rich world. I can imagine the player controlling one of these guys in a shelter, and coming out to explore this incredible wasteland.

However, others have been quick to poor cold water on the idea.

A videogame based on this show? In a world after a nuclear war? Sounds a bit depressing, a bit grim. Games are about running about jumping on little mushroom men, said Stewart James, video game expert.

I mean, imagine if Mario was in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Hed have all radiation poisoning and Princess Peach would be dead, when he jumped on the mushroom men theyd just explode in a foul miasma of radioactive mush. It would be awful.

No, its a fine show, but I dont see it ever working as a videogame.

However, despite the scepticism of Mr James and people like him, there is significant enthusiasm for some sort of Fallout game. It maybe as a crossover with Fifa, with post-apocalyptic football, or an Angry Birds-style game, in which radioactive birds battle radioactive pigs, whatever form it takes, it seems likely a Fallout game will happen.

Sounds too complex. I think a more simple, digestable concept would be two paddles hitting a ball back and forth.
