And you give them the solution and they reply but I dont feel motivated to do that. Then stop fucking complaining.

In this case its a friend of mine who complains that shes put on weight after meeting her SO since she doesnt exercise as much as before and she eats more unhealthy food. And she hates the extra weight.

So I told her to try and go back to her old workout routine and to try and cut down on the candy and snacks etc which they eat a lot of now. They dont have children or pets so that isnt a new aspect to take into consideration.

But she doesnt feel motivated. Yet she hates the extra weight

My urge to say something like that is why I post here. Venting on CE, saving friendships since ????.

Her problem isn't that she has no idea what to do about putting on weight, her problem is the lack of motivation.

She knows about the diet and exercise stuff already. She either wants help with the motivational side, or she wants you just to say 'nah, I think you still look great', or she wants to try weight loss drugs, but doesn't know how to approach the subject.

Use your skill and judgement to navigate the tricky world of human relationships.

She just wants to be heard, she isnt looking for advice, but maybe she doesnt know that.

Its always best to ask people if they want advice, or if they want you to just listen.

That's a really good point as well. Sometimes people just want to talk, and your role will be simply to nod and make sympathetic noises.
