You're on a flight one day when the plane is shot down by the Trump Adminstration who say it contained Venezuelan drug dealers.

You survive but are lost at sea, you wash up in Aruba and it takes a while for you to recover and get home. Once you do, you discover that everyone assumed you died. When you get home, you arrive during your own funeral.

But you realize that only 3 people turned up. 1 of your friends, his bored girlfriend who spends the entire time time playing Raid Shadow Legends on her phone and that one relative you're not all that close too.

The priest hosting the funeral is going off a generic funferal script from Chat GBT and even says "[Deceased's Name]" at one point.

No one else bothered to come. And since they didn't know what music you would have requested, they are playing Guille's theme.

probably for the best - I want to waste as few people's time as possible.

Presumably the reason my husband is not there is we were on the same plane together and he didn't survive, so I'd still be in mourning.

If I died today that's exactly how many people would attend. I don't really care about a funeral though.

This reminded me that I was at a funeral (at a veteran cemetery) not too long ago and there were plaques on the walls for all the branches and wars. Army, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Marines, WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, etc. Space Force seemed a bit out of place.

Considering I'm Dutch, and Aruba is a constituent country within the Kingdom of The Netherlands, I find it highly unlikely that word of my survival wouldn't reach my friends and family.

inb4 "yeah but uh, your credentials got lost. Also you lost your memory! And the flight route and passenger manifest got lost too somehow!"

Be extremely pissed off that my explicit wish of no funeral was disregarded, and even more pissed off on top of that there's a priest there. I HATE christianity.

I assume they were the only fools who actually thought I was dead.

It happened to my friend. It was her wish. See I've talked about her feud with her daughter before. A brother she didnt get along with and Her son and Daughter were the family she had left. She also had issues with her son.

When I prepared her final wishes I told everyone where it would be. Her husband was a war veteran(gulf war 1) so was buried in a veteran cemetary. Spouses are also allowed so thats what she wanted. Closest one is in Bushnell so a long ways away. It was also tail end of covid.

Just my Dad who just met her a few weeks before, her friend and I attendee her funeral.

There should have been friends, but they showed true colors a few months before.

You might say it sounds like my friend might have been the problem. You would be wrong. In every case people showed who they really are. I could say alot about her daughter but here isnt the time and place for it.

2. Be extremely surprised there even is a funeral in the first place, and wonder who is responsible for paying for this pointless event.

3. Run the priest out of the place.

I have told my family for a long time to cremate me as cheaply as possible and spread me somewhere nice. I just want them to make sure my son is safe and he has his cat, and they find my dog a good home. I feel like thats asking too much but Id do that for them so maybe not. I dont want a funeral at all. I barely stayed at my dads.

I would definitely try to get closer to this person. I'd feel a bit bad that I wasn't close with them but they still considered me important enough to show up to my funeral.

This is how I feel about it. There was a time when I thought of I did suddenly, there would pretty much family and friends

In the last 5 years other than the early part of 2022 I haven't heard a peep from old friends to check up on me. I've given my dad a list of people to inform if something does happen.

My friends long term friend who I know word would get back to my friends widow. He doesnt like her either but he knows she wants to be informed so she would no longer need to chase me

My adopted "Mother"- a good friend I've known for more than 25y. Had the same interest in gaming and treated me like a son. I lived alone so it helped me fill in what I didnt have since I lived away from my own family during that time

The dude who helped my friend before I did. Mostly so if I don't get it soon( hoping by thanksgiving) my stuff its my dad responsibility to pick up..

A couple I was friends with. I miss them actually. One of the few people who helped me through the death of my real friend.

Confused which of my wife, five kids, and parents at least didn't show up.

I'd be confused at any friend of mine who has a girlfriend being there. I can think of a few friends with wives that could be there, and a few single friends that could be there, but any friends of mine that have a girlfriend are unlikely to travel to Canada just to attend my funeral. Not because of having a girlfriend, just because said friends live in other countries.

And what's this "one relative you're not all that close too" about? I have a few dozen relatives I'm not all that close to, and that's just going as far as aunts, uncles, and first cousins.

If that's the case, with any luck my being alive at my own funeral would be enough of an oddball story to make the news cycle down there and he'll learn I'm alive, well, and missing him.
