Between that, the Epstein thing and HHH's response to their first ESPN PPV flopping they're having truly a 10/10 PR day

https://www.fightful.com/wrestling/cyrus-kowsari-hired-as-wwe-senior-director-of-creative-strategy-will-focus-on-ai-storytelling-and-integration/

WWE hired Cyrus Kowsari as the Senior Director of Creative Strategy in early October.
Cyrus wrote on his LinkedIn, If youve known me for any part of my life, you know how passionate I am about WWE. The storytelling, the production, and the athleticism combine to make the most exciting and enduring television and live events decade after decade. WWEs brand and product have captivated me and inspired my work for as long as I can remember. I am so excited to be here!

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Levesque said that Kowsari would lead WWEs transition to AI based story telling and integrate AI into creative services like video and graphics. He said that this shift is inevitable when it comes to creative in pro wrestling. Kowsari said he would both manage AI storytelling and be a liaison to the White House as Levesque is taking on more duties in politics in some form. WWE has a contract with Writer AI, a platform which has already been fed WWE content.

The report also states, The AI software has come up with what one person with knowledge of the situation called absurdly bad storylines. They pitched a storyline where Bobby Lashley, who I guess AI thought was still with the company, could come back as a wrestler who was obsessed with Japanese culture and history.

Fightful will provide more information on Cyrus Kowsari and his role when it is known.

If it's so bad it makes people reconsider this Ai stuff, that would be great. And funny.

If it is anything like those AI DBZ episodes that were streaming on YouTube 24/7 for a number of days/weeks and were taking viewer prompts Im tentatively onboard.

So... AI will just recycle the most successful stories of all time in slightly different iterations?

How long until AI "pitches" the next nWo?

I could see AI being useful in very narrow areas here as a second opinion. There's always the risk of having your AI be too sycophantic and loving your garbage fantasy booking.

"Have we done ABC angle like this before?"

"Given X's technique, social media reactions, merch sales (attached), and injury history, how can I book them better?"

But then again, wrestling heavily depends on recycled themes and tropes and storylines.

Have you seen how bad WWE's creative has been overall the last 20 years?

They'd be better off coming with storylines by pulling and stronger together random notes out of a hat

They had a pretty noticeable uptick in quality once HHH replaced Vince McMahon but ever since the TKO acquisition they've been pretty shit

To be fair people wanted AI power things forever because of Sci Fi movies.

Only problem is instead of C3PO we got the congealed goo of the Internet given voice, after being given a few good whacks to the head with a baseball bat.

yeah, that didnt come off right. there are cool applications of AI but it doesnt have to be in things like this.

altho i get the temptation of using ChatGPT for writing wrestler story arcs... lol

Yeah I don't know what the hell happened to Hunter but his style changed. When he first took over, that first year or so was incredible. Shows were fast, flowed well, everything flowed into the next from in-ring to backstage.

Now it honestly feels like they are right back to the old WWE formula except now they worry more about ads than ever before.

Money and the realization that quality wasn't necessarily making them more. Once a person can phone it in and do the bare minimum and still make cash they tend to give up improving at whatever they do until it becomes absolutely necessary.

HHH still believes in "you never get a shit show" mentality from Vince. And that means treating each show as if the entire audience, live and at home, is watching professional wrestling for the first time.

Meanwhile, AEW positions themselves as if they are giving away dream matches each week. And it works.

With all of AEW's flaws the one thing they consistently get right is actual wrestling in their matches. Wrestling tribalism is so funny to me because from the perspective of 99% of society it's all the same dumb shit.

One thing I will say is it's mainly the main roster WWE stuff that sucks. Things like NXT and Evolve still feature a lot of wrestling, with less big names, and they're still very entertaining. Which makes it more baffling why there's such a huge disconnect between them, and the main roster stuff, in quality. I stopped watching main roster stuff almost entirely, outside of a match here or there, such as something with Sami Zayn, or Iyo Sky. I pretty much just watch Youtube clips, and focus entirely on NXT/Evolve, because it's still damn good wrestling.
