I'm morbidly curious how it's dark at both times, do you live really far north or do you leave for work before 6 am?

I fucking love standard time. I truly love when it is pitch black at 1700. Love fall and winter. Summer sucks and being light out until 2200 is something I don't enjoy. I like it being pitch black out when I settle in for a movie and when it is standard time on my off days I can fix an evening meal and start movie watching at like 1900. I love that. Makes playing games better too when it is dark out and not bright as hell from the sun.

I despise daylight savings. Its such a stupid invention. Just stick to one time. It needs to be banned. Never should have been invented. My hatred is unceasing for it

Yes to both, in Seattle it's dark from like 4:30 PM to 8 AM every day for 2 months or so.

It's not horrible but I have to force myself to go out early in the day and exercise or the darkness drives me nuts

As a farmer I understand the reason for it.
That extra daylight gave me time to bail hay, replant, fertilize from Aug-Sept. Pecans dont really matter since harvest is now through Jan. I would be working 18 hour days to have it ready by Thanksgiving. These 3 weeks in OCT while I still had extra daylight allowed me to harvest more befpre it starts getting dark early

Remember how close we got to getting rid off it? Good times... good times...

We should stay on DST, I hate how early it gets dark in the winter.

We should stay on standard time. I hate how late it stays light in the summer.

If we pick one I would like permanent daylight saving time. Having light until 6pm would be nice imo. 5 is a very busy time for traffic, and it being dark only makes it more dangerous.

There is no extra daylight though, its all just a human construct. If you need daylight just change your schedule part of the year.

And that's why I hate it BTW. Because it's human arrogance to think we control the sun. Its all bullshit.

But most farmers talk about how it fucks up their schedule and stresses their animals since they suddenly get cared for at different times relative to their internal clocks. It also was never intended for farmers, it was intended for power saving, and it doesn't do that very well.

Agreed. If only there was some other, normal kind of time. Like a Standard Time. So called because most of the world uses it and uses it consistently year round. If only.

I'm glad there's a shared sentiment towards standard time.

As it's been pointed out, I can't stand it being 9:30pm and the sun is only setting. Give me my hour back of sleep.

It became winter time today here. Now all the youtube live content I watch is off by an hour until America comes along.
