I currently have a sweatshirt on. The feels like outside is 46F. Thoughts on how I can fix this?

The part of me that usually gets the coldest are my feet and my hands. Wear nice thick socks to keep you feet warm. (Costco and Sam's Club usually have an amazing price on wool socks, which are ever so warm in the winter, and which wick sweat away in summer).

To keep my hands warm, I bought a pair of fingerless gloves. These allow me to type while keeping down the heat loss.

I currently wear these around the house. It's a nice LPT tho:

I took the shower and put the heat on (at least until I go to bed).
My heat is actually free but I want to be respectful to my landlord, although she seems super apathetic.

Heat loss is from your feet, hands, and ears so keep those covered. I would also invest in a heated blanket. I use one of those when I sleep and I survived the whole winter without heat other than the heated blanket.

Ah, yes, sleep. Maybe not immediately effective, or the right advice for everyone, but I find that the cold never bothers me unless I let myself run down. If I get tired, I can get cold, but otherwise, it's the heat that I worry about (still wearing shorts). So yeah, in addition to the rest of the advice given in this topic, make sure you're getting enough sleep.

In most places, she legally *can't* give you a hard time for running the heat enough to maintain a reasonable room temperature (like 70-72ish, it's probably explicitly outlined in your local tenant regulations). If you were trying to keep it at like 90 in the middle of winter while leaving windows open, yeah, she'd be right to have a problem, but simply turning it on when it's cold is not even remotely disrespectful. She's not your mother.

I use a heated mattress pad and man it makes a difference. Pop that baby on an hour before sleeping and you'll have your one warm spot while the entire igloo around you continues to get colder.

I bought a thing a couple years back that's sort of like a cross between a poncho and a cape, made of flannel. It doesn't have any ties or buttons or sleeves or anything, it just goes over your shoulders.

It's a really simple design but it's pretty warm. I think I got it at Sam's Club, but it was at least a couple years ago. It is a Woolrich Reversible Blanket Wrap.

My mother always had a sort of blanket thing with shoulder flaps she'd wear. It kind of looked like the sort of X-Ray cape they use at the dentist when taking shots of your teeth. She loved it way more than a normal blanket.

I bought a friend of mine a Snuggie as a joke birthday gift years ago, but she told me the joke was on me because it worked really well, and she liked wearing it while watching TV. So that's also an option.

You don't go to the doctor if your cold unless your going into hypothermia.

On a moment-to-moment basis? Indeed not. Chronically? Being cold all the time may be indicative of circulation problems, thyroid problems, other metabolic issues, various nutrient deficiencies (iron being the main suspect), low blood pressure, hormonal issues... It's worth checking out to make sure it's not indicative of a more serious underlying problem and to see if it can be treated. It is, of course, possible that there's no clear cause for it and you're just a cold person, but it's still good to rule out more serious issues.

I mean, I'm wearing shorts and a t-shirt right now in a 63 room and I feel perfectly fine.

Different people have different tolerances. It's like when BTB used to complain like he was in Antarctica whenever it dropped below 70 outside, because he was from Texas and didn't understand how actual weather worked. But on the flip-side, I'm sure he'd be happily barbecuing and living life when it was nearing 100, whereas I would be dead. I won't even do yardwork if it's over 80 (which makes it really hard to mow my lawn in the summer).

I can definitely relate. Unless it's an overcast and breezy day, or maybe a light drizzle, I'll only ever mow in late evening. I use a Ryobi electric lawnmower, even has LED headlights. I like it a lot more than gas powered ones that foul the air and I need to keep buying gas for, but sometimes those headlights have come in handy when I start extra late.

It's also just cold in your apartment, and while you work on fixing your malnutrition-related maladies there's nothing wrong with turning up the heat to a more comfortable temperature.
