I like waitress, les mis and hadestown the most. I've seen hadestown on Broadway a year or two ago soon before reeve Carney announced he was leaving and saw waitress in ogunquit, maine, which was really a broadway level production

The Phantom of the Opera 1990, 2004 and original Andrew Lloyd Webber production. There are other musicals I love of course but that's my favorite.

---
I love Lord Jesus, Family Matters (for Steve & Laura which I typed up a beautiful alt from Just One Date episode) and FFIX (for Zidane & Garnet).

I liked Quadrophenia a lot better than Tommy.

Paint Your Wagon is pretty good. Lee Marvin has a solo.

But my favorite musical is Xanadu. It has music by ELO and Olivia Newton-John

I generally hate musicals and I really hate television shows that force musical episodes. Broadway-style music really irritates me. I think Scrubs is the only show with a musical episode I actually thought was good, just for the premise that it used to explain why everyone was bursting into musical numbers, even if implausible.

Also, ironically, High School Musical kind of still slaps.

At least the first 2. I don't have many memories of 3 and if there was a fourth, I don't think I watched it.

I do.

Not Hamilton, though. I think Hamilton is dogshit.

My cousin absolutely loves musicals and showtunes (but he's also gay, so he's just living up to the stereotype). His faves were more stuff like 42nd Street, A Chorus Line, and Chicago. Whereas my tastes always ran more towards 80s stuff (Phantom, Les Mis, Cats, Aspects of Love).

Though my personal all-time favorite is (and has been for like 30 years) Chess: The Musical.

They're like Vinyls, retro slop for people who like the "authenticity" of not being able to see anything that's going on with any real detail and the sound being ruined by the need to scream to be heard off-stage. It's low-tech TV for social posturing, spending money to show you have the sophistication to enjoy inferior slop in an uncomfortable chair and be shushed by strangers.

Preferring stage over screen is like saying you don't wanna watch MLB as you prefer watching 9-year-olds in the park.

Well thats certainly a take.

You know that musicals dont only happen on the stage, right? Also, going to the West End or Broadway is a whole different experience to watching something at home. Theres valid reasons why people might enjoy it more.

I also really like Pirates of Penzance, especially the movie version with Angela Lansbury because I like her a lot. But I think that version cuts out some music

I also like 1776 with William Daniels

I always think of that one as "the movie version with Kevin Kline".

Brooo! I'm going to see Chess in Broadway next Friday. I live in NJ, so it's super easy to take a train up to NY and see broadway for a day.

I enjoy musicals, but I don't watch a lot of them.

Epic the musical is my current favorite, although its just a concept album and a bunch of youtube animatics right now.

Aww. If I'd have known about it, I might have looked into going.

I also live in NJ, and used to head up to the city all the time for stuff.

Though, just glancing... it does seem like there are still tickets for some showings. Hmm.
