When the physical copy of a game is just a key to download the digital version. Apparently the switch 2 version of the new DQ1 and 2 remake is like that. The Bravely Default remaster did this as well.

What pisses me off even more is that in Bravely Defaults case you still have to insert the physical cartridge into the system to play it, even though youre technically playing a digital download

They just hate seeing places like GameStop even existing I bet too. The greedy fucks have the mentality that money spent there is probably stealing or some shit. Like that one Game CEO that got caught saying Customers are the barrier to get MY money. Fucked in the head thinking

yeah i expected SE to do that even tho there is no reason for them to go for it. and if not game keycards they would go cloud route for some reason
''edit''
i thought SE skipped NS1 but it seems they have the game physical on 1 then why the hell is it a game keycard on 2

Yeah, Nintendo has been doing that a lot apparently. They really need to get humbled because they're fucking up

Tbf, all their first party games on SW2 are on cart. Mostly an option for third parties.

I was hoping they would stop making the Game Key Cards if people didnt buy them, but it looks like the general consumer doesnt care

Personally, Ive vowed not to buy any Switch 2 games that have a bunch of bullshit text occupying the bottom half of the cover art which so far just leaves me with Mario Kart and Donkey Kong

Im at the point where Ill hold out as long as I can w/o supporting GKCs. If I really want to play a game if it comes to that Ill just go digital.

But Ill also not pass up the opportunity to pick them up if they end up going on clearance or whatever.

I still think Nintendo deserves part of the blame for introducing it in the first place. And I say that as someone that's gone full digital with gaming

Supposedly it's because there are only two options for Switch 2 cards for devs; one with little storage, and one with too much storage. Switch 1 had more options for game sizes in between.

So for some publishers whose game sizes are too big for the smallest Switch 2 cart but are way too small to justify the costs for the largest card size, so for those, the only option are the game key cards.

i get not a lot of publishers wanting to use 64 and feel they are wasting spaces but this is to me mostly BS from big publishers whining seeing their response to ps3 blue ray back in the day where most of the games didn't even full up the disc's space
and nintendo needs to making a smaller carts for indies cuz most of their games doesn't get passed 10+gb so i can see why those devs would have an issue with the selections size for NS2
and lastly SE history is being shitty on the nintendo ports like KH collection could've been digital only but instead they made it cloud based only for their port so i don't doubt had game keycards not happened we would be seeing that from them

I feel like at that point they should just opt out of having a physical release at all. Because if I still have to download it anyway then whats the point? I understand people like having pretty cases on their shelves, but still
