s0nicfan 11/03/25 1:29:51 PM #4:	I played vanilla when it first came out, dropped it before the first expansion, picked it back up to check out cataclysm because I was curious about the world revamp and then dropped it again before cataclysm was over. In both cases I played a troll priest because I actually like being the Healer in an MMO party and I always thought Shadow priest as a secondary build was pretty fun too. --- "History Is Much Like An Endless Waltz. Played very little of Pandaria, left again until Warlords. Did a little bit of raiding with my old guild again but quit when most of the other members did. Probably lasted 2 months. That was the last expansion I played. Played Hardcore Classic last year for a few months until I hit 60. Logged into retail for a day just to see what it was like but hated what it became. Although I was stupid and instead of spamming Grunts and Ogres I used Troll Berserkers and Death Knights mostly. I came back when Lich King or whatever that pack was, leveled capped and stopped within like 3 months. I bought Cata when it came out and started raiding again. Then got back into it with Wrath of the Lich King because a bunch of friends were playing but then quit again just before Cataclsym came out because everyone was just miserable and arguing. Plus the grinding wasn't fun. I enjoyed both runs but would never ever go back. The idea of paying a subscription for a video game just feels totally alien to me now and when WoW was HUGE it felt like a real experience. Now MMOs are a dime a dozen. I remember being in Ironforge back when only Ironforge had the auction house and it was so **ing crammed with hundreds of people between the auction house and bank that it ran like garbage and wave after wave of players were constantly lag plummbering into big ditch under the bridge. Then going back after Wrath of the Lich King, being in the city for over an hour and being the only player there the entire time. Meeting players from the other faction in the wild while questing went from a constant occurance to a jumpscare that happened like once a month. Nobody was running anything but the endgame raids over and over and over and over. Everyone knew everything, there was no mystery or exploration or discovery left. Legion Remix is amusing for how ridiculously overpowered you can get, but I'm at the point where I'm just waiting for more content to be unlocked (which happens this week) But I gave up organized raiding years ago because of how stupid the arms race between players and devs became. This was during BC, but I was actually trash and didn't even get to max level cuz I was trash. I started again during the very tail end of WotLK, a bit before ICC released and played for quite a while. I was pretty hyped for Cataclysm, god knows we all were, but I definitely quit before the first patch. I didn't play it for a while after that, but WoD was so hype that I started playing shortly before then to catch up. Even though WoD turned out to be super meh, I kept playing through it and then Legion was great so I played through that too. I've not really hardcore played like that again since. I played a bit in BFA and Shadowlands, enough to hit max level and do a bit of the storyline there, but I only LFR'd Uldir and didn't do Castle Nathria at all. I do remember coming back to BFA for Nazjatar, but I just finished that zone and quit again. Dragonflight was good, but I again just hit max level, did a bit of the story, and fell off again. War Within actually seemed pretty interesting, but I didn't even hit max level. I made it to the second zone before falling off. I do wonder how much more I'd have played if I had a guild that was actually worth much. Getting to wield The Ashbringer was amazing and so much fanservice. I "retired" after that. Raiding was feeling like a job and I hit a point where I was happy with my main. Plus, WoW was seriously screwing my grades so it was a good time to quit. i actually got WotLK as a present too, but my computer couldnt run it anymore which I took as a sign to stay away. Plus, I got way more into console gaming instead.
