I'm playing on Story mode and dying pretty often still. The combat does feel great though, when I'm pulling it off.

I gave up almost immediately when I couldn't get past an early mob... Couldn't time the parry or dodge whatsoever... Which isn't surprising because I'm always terrible at timing parrys but it was the worst in this game...

The game gets so much easier as you get used to it. The dodge window is massive compared to similar games. Keep playing and eventually youll be destroying guys who you thought were a complete nightmare to fight at first

I don't know, I found normal to be fairly easy. Couple bosses near the very end were hard though.

You just need to get better with parries and dodging.
I struggled until I got better at that

Not an option for me on console unfortunately... I have enough games to play that I was fine quitting it instead of banging my head against it and not having fun... Weird it's one of three game just this year that I quit because I couldn't time parries/dodges though...

I seriously don't understand how people found this game hard. Felt like a Soulsborne on extreme easy mode. You can just hack things repeatedly and then dodge when they attack.

But I also quit Silksong for being too annoyingly hard, so I guess different strokes.

Souls games feel easier to kind of brute force your way through than Stellar Blade... Like you could always mash attack and dodge in a panic if needed and be semi-successful most of the time... That's usually how I get through them

See, that's exactly how Stellar Blade is IMO. Souls are much harder for the vast majority of people.

Google it. People think of Stellar Blade as a kind of Souls lite

There's an ability that you can get for Eve that allows for much more generous windows for dodging and parrying. Have that on you at all times.

For me, the game sort of 'clicked' around the half way mark and I wasn't really challenged by it from then on.

I'm not even good at Souls games and I felt the opposite, which is wild to me... The timing felt more strict in Stellar Blade, like I couldn't even Dodge normally let alone Perfect Dodge...

Some games just click more for some than others. I find things hard that others don't as well. But, in general, most find Dark Souls/Bloodborne/etc much harder. It is just good to know when you are an outlier vs the norm. At least I personally like knowing that because I am a stats based objective guy.

Never got far enough to unlock abilities but that does sound helpful if I ever go back to it... Which probably won't be anytime soon... Probably gotta wait until I forget I sucked at it lol

I liked how video game-y it is, Stellar Blade was kind of a breath of fresh air just for simply being a video game. Like that the game a double jump + air dash and generally rewards you for using them. Not very many invisible wall boundries, you can just generally jump around and get rewarded for exploring the little ins and outs of the maps. Combat was engaging, basically Sekiro With Boobs but also Eve has way more offensive option than Wolf/Sekiro.

Doesn't hold a candle to some real Capital A Action games like the recently-released Ninja Gaiden 4, but SB was nice.

The difference is that Souls games are real Action RPGs and the RPG side of things can overwhelm the Action side of things if you lack skill. Nobody is making you memorize dodge-rolling patterns for bosses, the games give you a way out.

Dark Souls 1? Just upgrade your armor with decent poise and upgrade your weapon with a decent swing. There, you can now face-tank the entire game by closing your eyes and mashing R1. You will take very little damage and your uninterruptable swings will chunk the boss.

Dark Souls 2? Practically every boss has an NPC summon that will come kill it for you.

Elden Ring? Early on everyone just respecced into an INT build just so they could grab a Moonveil and then just have Mimic Tear play the game for them. Trivialized the game until they patched like a year later. Very few of the people praising the game were like, actually engaging the combat and were just having summons play it for them.

Stellar Blade has RPG elements but they're not nearly as strong. You're not 1shotting bosses because you ugraded your sword + strength enough.

^ true that FromSoftware is better at giving options, which is why I think their difficulty is overrated.

But I still just don't see how Stellar Blade is that bad. I definitely died, but I never felt that there were any walls to get past like I have with other games of this nature.

oh yea SB is not that hard, just saying it's harder than Souls just because, in Souls you can level to make the game easier

like how Sekiro is harder than most other Fromsoft games because of the specific removal of RPG mechanics

neither hold a candle to say, most character actions or your average shmup

There's one bit of gear you can get early on that makes parrying and dodging easier. Most of the boss fights are pretty easy though.

I've beaten or come close to beating all of the FromSoft games (like, in DS3 I'm stuck on the final boss) outside of Sekiro so maybe I just need to play more to get used to the timing. Good to hear that there are upgrades and such that will help me. I don't think I've run into a wall yet, it's just surprising how a group of enemies will smoke me sometimes.

Learn to love those Beta moves or w/e they were called, they will frequently wipe mobs for you. Difference between a five minute vs five second fight sometimes.

My biggest tip would be don't fight groups of enemies. Separate them if you can, or take the biggest one down with a stealth attack first. You can easily get overwhelmed, and outside of skills, Eve doesn't really have much to offer in terms of crowd control.
