My kid is visiting the US for the first time from Germany with her friend late this Summer (Aug 2026). She will turn 15 on the trip and I think her friend is 14.

Whay should I do with them? Well be in the SF Bay Area.

I was thinking going to a theme park, taking them to various malls, taking them to see stuff in San Francisco, taking them to Santa Cruz. I work at a high school, so taking them there to possibly meet some kids.

any ideas for other stuff? Just trying not to be a boring Dad. Thanks guys.

I used to go to a bowling alley that had billiards tables as well and I liked those a lot.

Posting his daughter's pictures on the internet isn't a good idea, but that's not creepy behavior.

Take them around doing things that are uniquely American or at least not German. Go to your local gas station grab some of the pamphlets they always have by the door advertising local tourist attractions.

Not surprising that gamefaqs users are projecting this much, this is a completely normal discussion to have. If your response is but not on gamefaqs then trake a look in the mirror and make some changes.

As someone without kids and not particularly good with kids I wouldn't even know where to begin with this but have you tried asking her what she would like to do on the trip? Theme parks sound like a safe bet.

Youre going to be in San Francisco. Take them to places like Alcatraz, The Golden Bridge and Fishermans warth, where there is a lot of shopping.

Oh yeah, there is theme park there that Ive never been to. They might like that.

It's weird how much people don't know how much they project.
Then again, the current US administration is full of people projecting, so it's no surprise when people imitate their leaders.

Yeah, that doesn't seem *that* weird. Different people have different privacy comforts, etc.

Pragmatically speaking, the danger from suggesting that a person will visiting one of America's largest cities (actually, it's even broader than that since it's the area) on a barely-active messageboard is basically nil. It was never normal and then the deleted post #11 with the picture of 2 teenagers that unknowingly had their photo posted in a small corner of the Internet filled with who knows what creepers are doing and the TC telling everyone they will be in San Francisco soon.

Seriously, TC, you live in San Francisco. Why would you ask people who don't live there where to go? Did you ask your daughter where she wants to go?

While I agree that posting pictures of one's children in public forums isn't a good idea, "there are going to be 2 teenage girls in San Francisco next August" isn't exactly the most useful information.

You can also say it's not a good idea to post pics of others without their permission without calling someone a creep

It's worth noting that social media is different from a public forum. On social media, the only people seeing those photos are people that know you already and to whom you have already given direct, personal consent to view the things you post (unless you make them fully public, which would be weird to do with personal photos). Here, literally anyone can see them.

Now, granted, this board has like twelve people view it a day, so calling it "public" is more of a technicality than anything more practically impactful. Still, it's different at a conceptual level.

Ok. Well Im not giving any personal info about her. I said where we will be vaguely. I said the country she lives in. I posted a picture of her and a friend that I took thats not online anywhere else and then I deleted it.

I mean if thats dangerous, Im sorry. She wont be alone. Ill be with her at all times. And were not small. Im 61 and shes tall herself so we can protect ourselves.
